Women’s Lacrosse Earns Sixth Consecutive Ocean State Cup with 12-6 Win Over Bryant

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown women's lacrosse team (4-3, 1-0) earned its sixth consecutive Ocean State Cup with a 12-6 win over Bryant (6-4, 1-0) on Tuesday evening at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Along with its sixth consecutive Ocean State Cup, this is the 14th overall for Brown.
Ruby Sliwkowski tallied four goals and two assists as Kiki Tormey netted a hat trick. Tessie Batchelder chipped in with two goals and Adele Atherton dished out three assists. Mackenzie Conway made nine saves in the win.
Bryant outscored Brown 3-0 in the first quarter as the Bulldogs outshot the Bears 7-4 in the frame.
The Bears flipped the script in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 4-0 on goals from Batchelder, Marley Wright, Tormey, and Sliwkowski. Conway made three saves in the second quarter as Brown took a 4-3 lead into the second half.
Overall, Brown outshot Bryant 13-12 through the first 30 minutes.
Sliwkowski's second goal of the game 90 seconds into the third quarter extended the Bears' lead to 5-3 before the Bulldogs cut the lead to 5-4. Following the Bryant goal, Brown closed the third quarter on a 4-0 run behind two goals from Sliwkowski, and one goal each from Tormey and Riley Peterson.
The Bears held the Bulldogs to just one goal in the second and third quarters. In the fourth quarter, Annie Dignazio, Tormey, and Batchelder all found the back of the net as the Beads held on for the 12-6 victory.
Brown will resume Ivy League play at Yale on Sunday, Mar. 22, the opening draw control is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Reese Stadium.
