Men’s Hockey Falls to No. 5 Quinnipiac on the Road

HAMDEN, Conn. – The fifth-ranked Quinnipiac Bobcats (21-5-3, 12-2-1 ECAC) scored six goals in the opening period and took a 9-1 win over the Brown Bears (4-18-1, 3-11-1 ECAC) Friday night at M&T Bank Arena.
After a back-and-forth start to the game, the Bobcats took a 1-0 lead 5:53 into the frame as Markus Vidicek scored his 17th goal of the season off assists from Will Gilson and Ethan Wyttenbach.
The Bears tied the game at 1-1 less than a minute later as Tanner Hartman tallied his third goal of the season. Brian Nicholas forced a Quinnipiac turnover in the offensive zone and moved the puck to Ryan St. Louis, who found Hartman alone in the slot for the goal.
The Bobcats responded with two goals in 11 seconds, with Wyttenbach scoring at 8:01 of the period and Lansing scoring at 8:11. Quinnipiac would add two goals from Antonin Verreault and one from Mason Marcellus before the end of the first to take a 6-1 lead into the intermission.
Andon Cerbone, Matthew McGroarty, and Aaron Schwartz tallied goals in the second period for Quinnipiac to extend its lead to 9-1.
Quinnipiac held an 8-7 edge in shots on goal in a scoreless third period.
