Baseball Series at Charleston Southern Adjusted Due to Weather

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a three-game trip to Florida last weekend in which the Brown baseball team went 1-2, the Bears will head back down south for the final time this weekend for a three-game set at Charleston Southern.
Due to expected inclement weather in Charleston on Friday, the two teams will now play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon, followed by the regularly scheduled series finale on Sunday at noon.
Only Sunday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+

SCOUTING BROWN (1-2)
- The Bears opened their season last weekend with three games in Port Charlotte, Florida against three quality mid-major programs.
- Brown took the final game of the weekend over Indiana State, scoring nine runs in the eighth inning for a 16-12 win.
- Brown also held a late lead in the opener against Miami (OH), and had a late rally fall short against Illinois State.
- Entering this weekend, Brown leads the Ivy League and ranks 37th nationally with a .318 team batting average.
- Freshman Matt Luigs had a big debut last weekend, posting a .429/.500/.571 slash line and delivered the game-winning hit against Indiana State.
- Senior infielder Mark Henshon leads the squad with a .455 batting average and six RBIs.
- Sophomore outfielder Alex Benevento is hitting .417 with five runs, four RBIs and one home run.
- Catcher Brandon Chang threw out four of the seven runners who attempted to steal against him.
- Brown used 10 pitchers in the three games, six of whom made their collegiate debuts, with another appearing in a game for the first time in three years.
SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN (7-1)
- The Buccaneers are coming off their first loss of the season on Wednesday night, falling 11-10 in 11 innings at home to UNC Wilmington.
- CSU swept Bucknell and Elon, both at home both in three game series, and took down North Florda 12-4 on the road in between.
- CSU has three qualified players batting over .300 this season, led by Blake Edgmon at .391 with nine RBIs and a pair of doubles.
- Chandler Tuupo leads the team with 11 hits, three homers and 14 RBIs.
- Caden Wolfley had also posted a .391 batting average.
- On the mound, CSU has compiled a 4.32 team ERA, with game two starter Brady Bickett having limited opponents to a tiny .074 batting average, allowing just two hits while striking out seven over 8.2 innings across two starts.
