1/24/2026 3:42:00 PM | Women's Ice Hockey
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey (12-10-2) was shutout by RIT (14-13-0) in Meehan Auditorium on Saturday (Jan. 24).
Brown outshot the Tigers 23-21 but could not get a goal past Sophia Bellina (23 saves). Rory Edwards finished with 17 saves for the Bears.
"RIT was physical and, it's hard to say this, but I think they outcompeted us," said head coach Melanie Ruzzi. "We didn't create opportunities that gave us second chances. RIT played very well, they clogged up lanes, they blocked shots. I thought their goaltender played very well in net."
RIT scored its first goal on a rebound at 7:13 in the second and made the scored 2-0 at 18:43 in the second period.
The Tigers pushed their lead to 3-0 at 15:04 in the third.
Brown pulled Edwards for a 6-on-4 advantage after an RIT penalty late in the third and had multiple chances, including a shot that hit the pipe but the Bears were held scoreless as the Tigers added an empty netter for the final tally.
GAME NOTES
Brown will hit the road for games against Union and RPI next weekend as ECAC play resumes for the Bears.
