
Ahuja Dominates 3000m, Jackson and Margetts Place on School’s Top 10 List as Track & Field Competes at the Dr. Sander Scorcher

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Brown men's and women's track and field programs wrapped up weekend competition on Saturday as they competed in the two-day Dr. Sander Scorcher, a meet hosted by Columbia at The Armory in New York City.
Three Brown athletes found themselves in the top half of their events, earning spots on the school's all-time top-10 list.
Senior Nimrit Ahuja was crowned winner in the women's 3000m invitational. With a time of 9:22.72, Ahuja's finish placed her second all-time on the program's top-10 performers list. Junior Alyssa Jackson took third place in the 200m dash in 24:49, which places fourth all-time on the program's top-10 list.
Lastly, junior Sebastian Margetts placed fifth overall in the men's 5000m invitational. At a time of 14:11.83, Margetts put himself sixth all time on the program's top-10 list.
WOMEN
In addition to her podium finish in the 200m, Jackson also qualified for the 60m invitational finals, placing second overall with a time of 7.54. Freshman Anya Anderson placed fourth out of 46 runners in the 60m open with a time of 7.90 and sophomore Mackenzie Fulgham placed 11th overall with a time of 7.97.
Freshman Sameera Monks competed in the 200m open, finishing 16th overall out of 67 runners with a time of 26.21. Anderson placed ninth out of 11 in the 200m invitational with a 25:48 finish.
Senior Simone Dunbar qualified for the 60m hurdle invitational, placing fourth out of eight finalists with a time of 8.69.
Freshman Sydney Ruckett placed sixth out of 16 in the 400m invitational with a 56.12 time. In the seeded 400m, with 54 runners, freshman Mia Reaugh placed seventh overall with a time of 57.40. Sophomore Kareema McKenzie placed 15th with a 58.29 finish, and senior Jenna Lowrey placed 20th with a time of 58.72.
Juniors Katrina Sortland and Nina Kruzewska competed in the 800m invitational. Out of 37 runners, Sortland finished 13th at 2:13.67 and Kruzewska finished 17th with a time of 2:14.40. Seniors Julia Schriefer and Emily Mrakovcic raced in the one mile invitational, with Schriefer finishing 18th out of 39 runners in 4:51.83 and Mrakovcic following in 19th with a 4:52.21 finish.
Senior Nene Mokonchu had a podium finish in the high jump invitational. Her 1.68m jump placed her second overall out of 31 jumpers. Senior Rachel Bibiu finished 14th overall out of 23 jumpers in the long jump invitational at 5.21m. Junior Naa Adua Annan competed in the long jump open and finished 10th overall out of 40 jumpers with a distance of 4.92m.
In the weight throw invitational, senior Zoe Carter-Konate placed fifth out of seven throwers, throwing a distance of 17.55m. Junior Jillian Leahy competed in the open weight throw, placing 10th overall out of 31 throwers with a distance of 15.77m. Freshman Angela Volkova placed 10th overall in the open shot put at 12.32m.
MEN
Seniors Elias Archie and Solomon Miller qualified for the 60m invitational finals. Out of eight finalists, Archie placed third with a 6.86 finish and Miller placed eighth in 6.97.
Sophomore Trevor Wilder had a podium finish in the seeded 200m race, placing second overall in 21.66 seconds. Wilder also placed third out of 10 in the 400m invitational with a 48.99 finish.
Junior Jake Haley finished 14th out of 33 runners in the 800m invitational with a time of 1:53.82. Sophomore Colin Fisher ran an 8:22.04 in the 3000m invitational.
In the long jump invitational, junior Mubaraq Aderogba placed fifth overall out of 22 jumpers with a distance of 7.10m. Freshman Jaden Stewart finished fifth overall out of 24 jumpers in the triple jump invitational with a distance of 14.79m.
Junior Keith Daigneau placed fifth out of eight throwers in the weight throw invitational with a 19.85m toss. Junior Ethan Wordell had a podium finish in the weight throw open, placing third overall at 17.10m. Freshman Sean Wilton (9th/15.22m) and junior Karon Johnson (11th/15.12m) were among the 29 competitors in the shot put open.
The Bears will return to action next Friday, January 30, at the Harvard Invitational in Boston, Mass.
