
Riley, Webb Win Events and Records Broken as Track and Field Places Fifth at Ivy Outdoor Heps

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown track and field completed the Ivy League Outdoor Heps at Princeton University on Sunday. Both programs finished in fifth place as the men tallied 53 points, and the women totaled 49 points.Â
Day two of the Heps for the Bears saw two athletes win individual championships, five new school records, and eight top-10 school marks.Â
Junior Elle Riley was the winner of the 400m hurdles on the women's side with a time of 57.04. Her win also broke the school record she previously set one month ago, beating her time by .66 seconds. Along with her win, Riley placed second in the 100m hurdles and broke her own record she set on Saturday. Her time of 13.44 beat her previous record by half a second. Junior Eddie Webb was the men's champion in the javelin. His first place mark at 67.85m beat his previous PR by 3.04m and puts him at eighth on the school's top-10 list.Â
Junior Alyssa Jackson, who broke the school record in the 100m dash on Saturday, broke it again in the finals on Sunday. Her fifth place podium finish at 11.59 beat her previous record by .11 seconds. In the relays, the 4x100m team of Elias Archie, Trevor Wilder, Solomon Miller, and Danny Killian set the school record by finishing fourth at a time of 40.50, beating the one-year old record by .11 seconds. The 4x800m team of Duncan Frisbie-Smith, Jake Haley, Cameron Walter, and Aaron Caveney also broke the school record with their second place finish (7:22.02), which broke a 13-year old school benchmark.
WOMEN
Freshman Anya Anderson ran along Jackson in the 200m final and placed fifth with a time of 24.07, followed by Jackson in sixth with a time of 24.09. Freshman Sydney Ruckett placed third in the 400m final with a time of 53.53. Running alongside Riley in the 400m hurdles final, sophomore Kareema McKenzie placed seventh with a time of 59.83 and junior Maddelynn Brooks finished eighth with a time of 1:00.39.
Senior Nimrit Ahuja placed second in the 3000m steeplechase and set the second fastest time in school history with a time of 10:03.23, beating her previous PRÂ by 2.44 seconds. Junior Olivia Fraga finished fourth with a time of 10:13.75.
Riley, Jackson, Anderson, and Sameera Monks set the second fastest 4x100m time in school history with their fifth place finish at a time of 45.64. Ruckett, McKenzie, Brooks, and Mia Reaugh set the fifth fastest 4x400m time in school history with their sixth place finish at a time of 3:43.31. Emily Mrakovcic, Katrina Sortland, Juli Gonzalez, and Megan Jasinski set the sixth fastest 4x800m time in school history with their sixth place finish at a time of 8:48.71.
Senior Nene Mokonchu placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.73m. Sophomore Maria Camposano finished seventh in the heptathlon with 4,423 points. Freshman Clara Fan placed ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.96m.
MEN
Senior Elias Archie placed sixth in the 100m final with a time of 10.65. Sophomore Trevor Wilder placed eighth in the 400m final with a time of 47.22. Freshman Benjy Street placed 10th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:23.50. In the 4x400m, Jason Estrada, Wilder, Sean Connell, and Nick Strayer placed eighth with a time of 3:12.12 and set the 10th fastest time in school history.Â
Alongside Webb in the javelin, sophomore James Chafouleas placed fifth with a distance of 57.99m. Freshman Jaden Stewart placed third in the triple jump and tied for the seventh best distance in school history at 15.39m. In the decathlon, junior Gabriel Liem Thai finished third with 6,387 points, which puts him ninth all-time in school history. Sophomore Link Lignell finished fifth with 6,104 points.
The Bears will now wait and see who qualifies for the first round of the NCAA East Regional, which will take place from May 27-30, in Lexington, Kentucky.
