Men's Hockey Heads to Union and RPI for Weekend Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (4-13-0, 3-7-0 ECAC) hit the road for a conference weekend to take on the Union Garnet Chargers (13-6-2, 4-5-1 ECAC) on Friday and the RPI Engineers (5-16-0, 2-8-0 ECAC) on Saturday.
Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with Saturday's puck drop set for 4 p.m. Both games will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend with a 4-13-0 overall record and 3-7-0 ECAC mark. The Bears are 10th in the ECAC standings and are just five points behind Harvard and Clarkson for fifth place.
- Brown's offense averages 2.4 goals per game to rank ninth in the ECAC. Ivan Zadvernyuk leads the team with 10 goals and 13 points with Ben Poitras and Ryan St. Louis leading the squad with six goals apiece.
- The power play has three goals in 45 attempts (6.7%).
- Defensively, Brown allows 3.5 goals per game to rank 10th in the conference.
- Between the pipes, Tyler Shea holds a 3.04 goals against average and .916 save percentage in 10 starts.
- Brown's penalty kill enters the weekend at 72.6% (45-62).
- The Bears rank ninth in the conference at the faceoff dot, winning 48.6% of faceoffs.
- Union enters the weekend with a 13-6-2 overall record and 4-5-1 ECAC mark. The Garnet Chargers are receiving votes in both national polls.
- In recent games, Union split the season series with both Quinnipiac and Princeton and picked up a home sweep over Alaska.
- Offensively, Union averages 3.7 goals per game to rank fourth in the ECAC and eighth nationally.
- Brandon Buhr leads the team with 15 goals and ranks second on the team with 22 points. Parker Lindauer leads Union with 17 assists and ranks third on the team with 21 points. Tyler Dunbar leads the team with 23 points and is second on the team in goals (9) and assists (14).
- Union's power play clicks at 23.4% (22-94) to rank third in the conference and 13th nationally.
- Defensively, the Garnet Chargers allow 2.3 goals per game to rank third in the conference and eighth nationally.
- Between the pipes, Cameron Korpi holds a 2.34 goals against average and .900 save percentage in 16 starts. Brayden Gillespie holds a 1.68 goals against average and .932 save percentage in five starts.
- Union's penalty kill ranks second in the ECAC and nation at 90.4% (66-73).
- Union's 53% faceoff percentage ranks third in the ECAC and 10th nationally.
- Friday marks the 71st matchup between Brown and Union in a series dating back to 1989.
- Brown holds the series edge, 28-27-15, along with a 14-15-5 road record. Friday marks Brown's first game played at the new M&T Bank Center.
- RPI enters the weekend with a 5-16-0 overall record and 2-8-0 ECAC mark. The Engineers have lost five straight games entering the weekend, most recently falling in overtime on the road at Quinnipiac.
- RPI's offense averages 2.0 goals per game to rank 11th in the ECAC.
- Filip Sitar leads the team with seven goals and ranks second on the team with 11 points. Luciano Wilson leads the team with 11 assists and 15 points.
- RPI's power play ranks 10th in the ECAC at 13.8% (8-58).
- Defensively, RPI allows 3.5 goals per game to rank 10th in the conference.
- Between the pipes, Nate Krawchuk owns a 3.13 goals against average and .898 save percentage in 13 starts.
- RPI's penalty kill enters the weekend at 74.6% (47-63) to rank 10th in the conference.
- RPI is fifth in the conference and 28th nationally at the faceoff dot, winning 50% of its faceoffs.
- Saturday marks the 113th meeting between Brown and RPI in a series dating back to 1951. RPI owns the series edge, 69-35-8, along with a 41-17-4 home record against Brown.
- Both teams have won three of the last six meetings in the series.
- The Bears most recently split an ECAC weekend at home, falling 3-2 against Clarkson before taking a 4-1 win over St. Lawrence.
- In the first game, Brown trailed 3-0 entering the third before Ben Poitras and Andrew King made it a one-goal game. The comeback effort fell short as the Bears were unable to find the equalizer.
- Fred Halyk recorded 33 saves in the loss to the Golden Knights.
- On Saturday, Ben Poitras scored twice in the opening period and the Bears cruised to a 4-1 win with second period goals from Ivan Zadvernyuk and Matthew Cataldo.
- Tyler Shea recorded 39 saves in the victory.
- Ben Poitras recorded three goals last weekend to draw even with Ryan St. Louis for the team-lead in goals at six.
- The sophomore ranks second on the team with 11 points.
- Ryan St. Louis recorded an assist in each of his last two games to reach the double-digit point total this season.
- St. Louis has points in three straight games and has recorded six points over his last six games.
- St. Louis recorded his first multi-point game of the season with two goals against Harvard (Dec. 6).
- He added his second two-goal game of the season against Merrimack (Jan. 3).
- St. Louis recorded 10 multi-point games in 2024-25 to lead the Bears.
- Tyler Shea recorded 39 saves to pick up the victory in Brown's 4-1 win over St. Lawrence (Jan. 10).
