Women’s Soccer Set to Face Wake Forest on Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's soccer will travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. for a matchup with 17th-ranked Wake Forest on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on ACCNX.

Scouting the Bears (4-1-0)
- Brown defeated Northeastern on Thursday night by a score of 2-0
- Ella Weil scored her second goal of the season, after Joy Okonye's shot hit the crossbar and deflected directly to Weil. She then headed the ball past goalkeeper Eliza Teplow.
- First-year Jael-Marie Guy scored her first collegiate goal with Naomi Nnewihe picking up her first career assist on the play.
- The Bears are currently outshooting their opponents 99-28 across five games this season. They've posted nine goals and allowed four.
- Brown has notched an average of 1.80 goals per game, while holding their opponents to less than one goal average (.80) per game.
- Sophomore forward Ayla Sahin leads the team with three goals this season, tallying the most shots on the team with 17.
- Sahin has two game-winning goals this season, securing their 1-0 victory over 2024 NCAA Tournament qualifier UConn, and against Rhode Island in a 3-2 win.
- Junior midfielder Joy Okonye leads the team with two assists.
- Okonye was named to TopDrawerSoccer's Top 100 Preseason Players to Watch List in August.
- She scored two goals in the Bears' first game of the season against New Haven, with both goals coming from free-kick opportunities.
- The Demon Deacons reached the national championship for the first time in program history in 2024, falling to North Carolina 1-0.
- They defeated SMU, LSU, Villanova and USF to start their season with a 4-0 record.
- Their first loss of the season came in their fifth game of the season against Mississippi State, who received votes in the last United Soccer Coaches Poll.
- They most recently defeated College of Charleston on Thursday, winning 2-0
- First-year forward Allie Flanagan and sophomore forward Chloe Burst scored for the Demon Deacons.
