THE FIRST PITCH
Brown is on a three-game win streak after sweeping Yale last weekend. The Bears have now set a program record for Ivy League wins in a season, now having 12. The previous record is 10, set multiple times, including last season.
The Bears have 28 wins on the season, the most since 1992, when the Bears won 31 games. With another win, Brown's 29 wins would be the fourth-most in program history.
Alexis Guevara was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time this season after going 3-0 last weekend with a 1.33 ERA. Guevara finished the weekend with 26 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched and walked just two batters.
Guevara's 15 wins are the most in a season by a Bear since Katie King had 18 in the 1996 season. With Guevara's 15 wins and Macy Borowski's 10, Brown now has the first season with two 10-win pitchers since 1993.
Against Central Connecticut, Guevara set the program records for career strikeouts (327) and single season strikeouts (128). Guevara's three strikeouts in the final game against Yale tied the Brown program record for team strikeouts in a season (221).
Laurel Moody finished the weekend with six walks and is now tied for the program record with 28 walks in a season. Moody, who set the program record for home runs in a season (14) earlier this year, is also five hits and seven runs single season records.
As a team, Brown sits in second place for team program records in runs scored (217), home runs (29) and runs batted in (181).
Mary Holt-Kelsch set the record for program wins in a season for a first-year head coach with her 23rd win of the season when Brown beat Harvard 8-2 on April 19. Holt-Kelsch has doubled the most Ivy wins by a first year coach at Brown, the previous mark was six wins, set by two different coaches.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence is 22-25 on the season and on a three-game win streak after beating Bryant and picking up two wins against Tarleton State last week.
The Friars have three qualifying batters over .300 with Elisa Smith leading the way with a .386 average. Cameron Dunn is leading the team with eight home runs and 35 RBI while hitting .359.
In the circle, Jessica Walter leads the team with a 2.95 ERA and a 6-1 record in 54.2 innings. Tori Grifone leads the team with 62 strikeouts and 10 wins with a 3.47 ERA.
