No. 5 Men's Crew Prepares for Dreissigacker Cup Against Northeastern

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown men's crew has had several races in Florida and California this season, facing off against some of the best teams in the country. The Bears are back in Providence for their only home regatta of the 2025 spring season as the 11th ranked Northeastern Huskies come to town in a battle for the Dreissigacker Cup.
These two programs have been racing for the Dreissigacker Cup since 1965, with the Bears holding a 34-25 lead all-time in the series. Brown won the Cup last year by 1.7 seconds after posting a final time of 06:08.1 and are looking to win back-to-back Cups for the first time since the 2018-2019 seasons.Â
The varsity 8, which has several first place finishes on the season, has had several competitive races against second ranked Washington and top ranked California. The second varsity also has three first place finishes this season, with two wins last weekend against fifth ranked Sanford (tied with Brown) and ninth ranked Syracuse.Â
The Bears have been ranked as one of the ten best programs in the country since the start of the season, with the last two IRCA/IRA polls ranking them in the top five.Â
