No. 5 Men's Crew Retains Dreissigacker Cup Against Northeastern
4/19/2025 4:47:00 PM | Men's Crew
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - For the first time since 2018-2019, Brown men's crew has won the Dreissigacker Cup in back-to-back seasons. Brown moves to 35-25 all-time when competing for the Cup.
The Bears were propelled by a very strong performance from the V8, which posted a final time of 5:52.26. Stroked by David Person and coxed by Elenna Seguin, the V8 picked up win number four on the spring season and continued to show why they are one of the best crews in the country.Â
"We were all really proud of the race today," said Oliver Page-Kuhr. "One thing that we really wanted to focus on with our preparation was having a strong first 500 and start, while not letting that put us in a place where we were having a frantic rhythm for the rest of the race, which is something we had trouble with at our last race in California. Northeastern hung in really close for that middle 1k of the race, but then we had an extra gear to hit with about 750-600 to go and we were able to pull away from them for a good win."Â
Enno Mönch also saw some of the lessons learned out in California come to fruition on the race course this afternoon. "Coming back from the West Coast, I think we definitely had some good racing out there," said Mönch. "We got an opportunity today to sharpen up what we learned last weekend and make sure that we really got to nail it down and bring it to the racecourse every weekend."
The 2V8, stroked by Isaac Hillicks-Tulip and coxed by Lizzie Mitchell, also recorded their fourth win of the season after posting a time of 6:04.19. The 3V8, stroked by Adam von Bismarck and coxed by Jack Mershon, took home their second win of the season after crossing the finish line in 6:11.02.Â
The A4, stroked by Samuel Loehnis and coxed by Vijay Ramakrishnan, finished in second place this morning after finishing with a time of 7:21.15. The B4 also competed and posted a final time of 7:29.69.Â
The Bears have a few weeks to prepare for their next opponent on May 3, when they will travel to Lake Carnegie in New Jersey to take on the Princeton Tigers.
