Brown hammered out 15 hits, the second-most this season and tied a season-high with three home runs in the win. Laurel Moody tied the Brown single season record for home runs with her 13th of the season. Alyssa Villarde hit her first-career home run and Cameron Zytkewicz Ray went deep for the fourth time this year.
Alexis Guevara (11-5) earned the win with a complete game effort, allowing three runs and striking out two batters. Guevara's 11th win this season ties her career-high that she finished with last season and are tied for the most since 2011 when Kristie Chin had 12 wins.
The Bears got the scoring going in the second with a big two-out rally. With Amanda Deng on first after a fielder's choice, Abby Bettencourt doubled to the center field wall to score Deng. That was followed up with Villarde doubling to the wall in left to make it 2-0. Elli Thompson flipped a two-strike pitch into shallow right field to score Villarde and make it 3-0.
Columbia picked up a run in the bottom of the second but the Bears responded in the fifth.
Villarde led off the inning and drove a ball over the wall in right center for the solo shot to make it 4-1. A walk to Thompson followed by singles by Jasmine Hsiao and Leah Carey loaded the bases for Moody. Moody drove the ball to deep right but it was caught on the track for a sacrifice fly to score Thompson. An error by Columbia in the next at bat allowed Hsiao to score to bring the score to 6-1.
The Lions scored twice in the bottom of the sixth but Guevara got two outs with two runners on to keep the Bears up three.
With one out in the top of the seventh, Moody took a pitch to deep center for a solo home run to make it 7-3. Guevara singled to right field and Zytkewicz Ray gave the Bears more insurance with a two-run shot to left.
Guevara closed out the game with a three-up, three-down inning in the seventh.
