Big Second Half Gives No. 21 Women’s Lacrosse 12-10 Win Over No. 24 Harvard

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 21 Brown women's lacrosse team (7-2, 2-1) outscored No. 24 Harvard (6-4, 1-2) 8-4 in the second half to earn its second consecutive victory over a ranked opponent.
This is the first time since the 2018 season that Brown has defeated top 25 opponents in the same season.
After Harvard opened the scoring 39 seconds into the game, Beth Anderson tied the game at one less than two minutes later. The Crimson closed the opening frame on a 3-0 run to take a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.
The Bears opened the second frame on a 2-0 run on goals from Greta Criqui and Carly Camphausen, Camphausen's goal cut the Harvard lead to 4-3 with 10:15 remaining in the half.
The Crimson bounced back with two consecutive goals, extending its lead to 6-3 before Sydney Rathjen netted Brown's fourth goal of the game with 25 seconds left in the half as Harvard took a 6-4 lead into halftime.
Brown opened the second half on a 2-0 run to tie the game at six on goals from Criqui and Maddie Joyce, the goal for Criqui gave her 100 career points.
After the two teams traded two goals each, Camphausen tied the game at eight with her second goal of the game, Avery Doran gave Brown its first lead of the game with 32 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Leading 9-8 to open the fourth quarter, Annie Burton's first goal of the game gave Brown a 10-8 lead. After Harvard cut the Brown lead to 10-9, Carly Camphausen scored two goals just 26 seconds apart to give Brown a three-goal advantage.
The Crimson added a goal with 3:25 remaining in regulation to cut the Brown lead to 12-10, but it wasn't enough as the Bears held on for the victory behind two saves in the final minute from Claire Mahoney.
Avery Doran led the Bears with five points as she dished out four assists as Carly Camphausen scored a team-high four goals to go along with a team-high five draw controls.
Annie Burton chipped in with one goal and three assists in the win while Claire Mahoney stopped a career-high 12 saves.
Brown will play its fourth consecutive ranked opponent when they travel to No. 12 Duke on Tuesday, Apr. 1 at 1:00 p.m.
