Baseball Heads to Elon for Three-Game Weekend Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team is set for a southern trip for the second straight weekend to start 2025 as the Bears will take on Elon in a three-game series.

Friday – Santhosh Gottam (0-1, 5.68 ERA) vs. Justin Mitrovich (0-0, 1.69 ERA)
Saturday – Christian Keel (0-1, 11.25 ERA) vs. Hank Krift (0-2, 6.75 ERA)

- Junior infielder DJ Dillehay went 5-for-12 at the plate with five RBIs and three runs scored.
- Senior Gunner Boree went 3-for-10 with a pair of runs scored.
- Junior Stiles Begnaud tossed 3.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
- Starter Santhosh Gottam struck out six batters over 6.1 IP in his first start last Friday at North Florida.
- Brown boasts a roster of 34 players in 2025 with 22 returners, 12 newcomers, 16 pitchers and 18 position players.
- Offensively, the Bears return six of their top seven hitters from a season ago, including Second Team All-Ivy honoree Nathan Brasher (.315/.614/.390). In the infield, junior DJ Dillehay (.291/.362/.468) and senior Gunner Boree (.287)/.421/.522) both return along with junior outfielder Mika Petersen, who earned First Team All-Ivy honors in 2023.
SCOUTING ELON (2-6, 0-0 CAA)
- The Phoenix are off to a 2-6 start to the season with four of their six defeats coming to No. 1 Texas A&M and No. 12 Wake Forest.
- Friday's starter Justin Mitrovich struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings in last week's loss to Binghamton. He has allowed just four hits over 10.2 innings to start the season, including one hit over 5.0 IP against Texas A&M.
- Jackson Alford leads the way with a .414 batting average and nine runs scored. He had a pair of doubles and a triple in last weekend's series against Binghamton.
- Alec Welshans is batting .385 with a homer.
