Baseball Set to Open Season at North Florida

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a long offseason, the Brown baseball team is set to open the 2025 season this weekend with a four-game series at North Florida. First pitch of game one is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. and Sunday's finale is also slated for a 1 p.m. start.

- Brown boasts a roster of 34 players in 2025, with 22 returners, 12 newcomers, 16 pitchers and 18 position players. Offensively, the squad returns nearly 75 percent of its hits from a season ago that the coaching staff believes is the deepest and most talented offensive group in recent years.
- The Bears are coming off a 11-28 (6-15 Ivy) record last season.
- Friday night's starter will be senior Santhosh Gottam, who tied for a team-high innings in 2024 (65.0), pitching at least 6.0 innings in seven of his 11 starts, including four starts of at least 7.0 innings.
- Junior Christian Keel will get the ball in game two. Last season, he made 13 appearances overall including three midweek starts down the stretch, striking out 28 batters over 32.1 innings.
- Offensively, the Bears return six of their top seven hitters from a season ago, including Second Team All-Ivy honoree Nathan Brasher (.315/.614/.390). In the infield, junior DJ Dillehay (.291/.362/.468) and senior Gunner Boree (.287/.421/.522) both return along with junior outfielder Mika Petersen, who earned First Team All-Ivy honors in 2023.
- UNF is off to a 2-2 start to the season after drooping two games last weekend to Notre Dame, and topping Florida A&M on Tuesday, all at home.
- Redshirt freshman Carter White leads the team with six RBIs and has hit safely in all four games to start his career with UNF. He smacked a pair of home runs in Tuesday's win over Florida A&M.
- Senior outfielder Drew Leinenbach is 6-for-13 to start the year with two doubles and four RBIs.
- Senior Connor Moore is 3-for-13 with three doubles, three RBIs and five runs scored.
