2/15/2025 5:47:00 PM | Women's Ice Hockey
HAMILTON, N.Y. – Brown women's hockey (14-12-3, 9-10-3 ECAC) lost to No. 5 Colgate (27-7-0, 18-4-0) in the final game of the regular season, 3-1.
The Bears took the early lead with Margot Norehad tallying her 12th goal of the season on assists from India McDadi (15) and Jade Iginla (10). Norehad's goal came at 13:13 of the first period.
"The team had the better of them in chances and possession but we needed to capitalize, especially in the first period when we heavily controlled play," said head coach Melanie Ruzzi. "Would have loved to close out the regular season with a win but we are certainly prepared to head into the playoffs with a lot to prove against Union on Saturday."
Brown dominated the first period, outshooting Colgate 15-4 in the first 20 minutes but the tables turned in the second and third as the two teams tied with 26 shots each. Brown was outshot 11-2 in the final period.
Colgate tied the game just 2:55 into the second period and took the lead for good 1:37 into the third period. The Raiders added their final goal with an empty net tally late in the game.
Rory Edwards finished the game with 23 saves for the Bears.
GAME NOTES
Brown will host No. 9 seed Union in the first round of the ECAC playoffs on Saturday (Feb. 22). Puck drop for the game will be announced at a later date.
