Women's Hockey Hosts Union in ECAC Opening Round

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey is the No. 8 seed in the ECAC Playoffs and will host No. 9 seed Union in the Opening Round on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The game against the Garnet Chargers will be streamed on ESPN+.

SKATE SHAVINGS
• Brown will play host to the No. 9 Seed Union in the Opening Round of the ECAC Playoffs on Saturday (Feb. 22). Puck drop against the Garnet Chargers is set for 3 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
• Brown will be hosting an Opening Round game for the second-straight year after hosting Rensselaer last season. The Bears won that game 1-0 in overtime.
• The win over Dartmouth gave Brown its 14th win of the season and has clinched a winning record this season for the Bears. The 14 wins are the most by a Brown team since 2005-06. It was also the last time Brown finished the year above .500. The eight ECAC wins Brown has is also the most since the 2005-06 season (10).
SCOUTING THE GARNET CHARGERS
• Union enters the Opening Round as the No. 9 seed, finishing the season 5.5 points behind Brown and tied with Rensselaer.
• The Garnet Chargers had an 8-14-0 record in ECAC play and went 12-21-1 overall.
• Since bearing Brown 2-1 on Jan. 31, Union finished the season with five-straight losses with four of those losses coming against ranked teams and four of those losses coming by just one goal.
• Union is averaging just under two goals per game (1.9) with Karianne Engelbert the only player to have double-figure goals this season (13).
INSIDE THE SERIES
• Brown 6-4-0 against Union in the last 10 meetings but was swept by the Garnet Chargers this season, falling 4-1 in Schenectady and 2-1 in Providence.
• Early goals cost Brown in the matchup at Meehan Auditorium as Brown surrendered two goals in the first 10 minutes.
• Brown has only lost three-straight games to Union once in the all-time series from 2019-20. The last time Brown lost consecutive home games to Union was a three-game stretch from 2017-19.
FAST 11
• Brown reached its 11th win of the season in its 21st game of the year, the fastest team for Brown to get to 11 wins in a season since the 2003-04 team that made it to 11 wins in 18 games.
• Brown reaching 11 wins with the two wins last weekend gave the Bears their second-straight season with double-figure wins. Brown had not had back-to-back seasons with 10+ wins since 2005-06 and 2006-07.
THREE HITTING 10
• Brown has three players on its roster with at least 10 goals this season - Monique Lyons (13), Margot Norehad (12) and Ava DeCoste (11).
• This is the first season that Brown has had three 10+ goal scorers since 2003-04 - Jessica Link (28), Keaton Zucker (14) and Krissy McManus (11).

• Brown won five series in ECAC play this season, sweeping Harvard and Dartmouth and winning series against Princeton, Quinnipiac and St. Lawrence 1-0-1.
• It is the first time since the 2003-04 season that Brown has gone unbeaten against five difference conference play teams in a season.

• Brown swept its North Country trip for the first time in program history earning overtime wins against No. 8 St. Lawrence and No. 7 Clarkson.
• The win at St. Lawrence was the first time since 2005 and the win at Clarkson was the first win there since 2006.

• With Brown's win over Dartmouth, the Bears reached 14 wins on the year and nine wins in ECAC play. Both of those numbers are the most for Brown since the 2005-06 seasons
