Men's Hockey Hosts Cornell, #19 Colgate in Weekend Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (11-10-2, 7-8-1 ECAC) host the Cornell Big Red (9-8-6, 6-6-4 ECAC) and 19th-ranked Colgate Raiders (15-10-3, 10-4-2 ECAC) in a crucial conference weekend at Meehan Auditorium.
Both games are set to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend with a 7-1-0 record over the last eight games and an 11-10-2 overall record.
- Offensively, Brown averages 2.6 goals per game to rank eighth in the conference and 44th nationally. Freshman Brian Nicholas leads the team with 23 points with sophomore Max Scott leading the team in goals (12) and sophomore Tyler Kopff leading the team in assists (17).
- Brown's power play clicks at 19% (12-63) to rank seventh in the conference and 40th nationally.
- Defensively, the Bears are tied for the conference lead and rank ninth nationally with 2.1 goals against per game.
- Goaltender Lawton Zacher – a Hobey Baker Memorial Award nominee, Mike Richter Award Watch List selection, and a Walter Brown Award semifinalist – holds a .934 save percentage and 2.05 goals against average in 19 starts.
- The penalty kill ranks ninth in the conference at 77.6% (59-76).
- Cornell enters the weekend with a 9-8-6 overall record and 6-6-4 ECAC mark. The Big Red sit sixth in the standings, just three points ahead of the Bears.
- The Big Red split the most recent weekend with a home win over RPI before falling to Union.
- Cornell's offense averages 2.7 goals per game to rank seventh in the conference and 37th nationally.
- Ryan Walsh leads Cornell with nine goals and 17 points. Tim Rego leads Cornell with 11 assists and is second on the team with 14 points.
- Cornell's power play has eight goals in 71 attempts (11.3%) to rank 12th in the conference and 62nd nationally.
- Defensively, Cornell allows 2.6 goals per game to rank fourth in the ECAC and 21st nationally.
- Between the pipes, Ian Shane holds a 2.47 goals against average and .893 save percentage in 22 starts.
- Cornell's penalty kill ranks fifth in the conference and 31st nationally at 80.3% (57-71).
- Friday's game marks the 141st meeting between Brown and Cornell in a series dating back to 1959.
- Cornell holds the series edge, 88-44-5, in the series, along with a 35-26-5 record at Meehan Auditorium.
- Colgate enters the weekend with a 15-10-3 overall record and 10-4-2 ECAC mark. The Raiders are second in the ECAC standings and rank 19th in the nation per the USA Hockey poll.
- The Raiders are 3-0-1 over the last four games with wins over Clarkson, St. Lawrence, and RPI and a tie against Union.

- Defensively, Colgate allows 3.0 goals per game to rank eighth in the conference and 37th nationally.
- Andrew Takacs holds a 2.46 goals against average and .915 save percentage in 23 starts.
- Colgate's penalty kill ranks sixth in the conference and 32nd nationally at 80% (68-85).
- Brown and Colgate meet for the 103rd time in series history on Saturday.
- Colgate holds a 64-28-10 all-time record in the series along with a 23-17-6 record in Providence.
- The Bears took consecutive wins over the Bulldogs last weekend to sweep Yale for the first time since the 2004-05 season and just the fifth time since the 1979-80 season.
- In Thursday's road win, Max Scott and Ryan St. Louis scored for the Bears and Lawton Zacher tallied 26 saves in a bounce-back win.
- In Sunday's rematch at Meehan, the Bears scored five unanswered, including four in the second period, to take a 5-1 win.
- Three of Brown's goals in the second came on the power play, the most since Brown scored four man-up goals against Yale in a 5-1 win on November 2, 2019.
- St. Louis and Zacher were announced as semifinalists for the 72nd Walter Brown Award, given annually by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston to the best American-born player in New England.
- The Brown duo are two of 26 semifinalists for the award.
- Brown is one of seven programs with multiple selections, joining Boston College (4), Boston University (2), UConn (2), New Hampshire (2), Northeastern (2), and Quinnipiac (2).
