Men’s Hockey Names David Mitchell as Operations Coordinator

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Class of 1975 Head Coach for Men's Hockey Thomas Upton has announced the hiring of David Mitchell as the Bears' new Operations Coordinator.
Mitchell comes to Brown after spending the last two seasons working on staff with Upton at UMass as a Hockey Operations Intern. With the Minutemen, Mitchell managed game and practice film, recorded in-game statistics, organized postgame analytical reports, created commit reports for the coaching staff, as well as coordinated and planned team travel, meals and events.
UMass qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2024-25 and advanced to the Fargo Regional Final.
Mitchell also served as an exam proctor while on campus at UMass, supervising exams for students with disabilities.
A native of Hanover, Massachusetts, Mitchell graduated from UMass in December 2025 with a bachelor's degree in economics and a minor in business.
