Men’s Basketball Hosts Princeton and Penn This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team (10-10, 2-5) will begin a four-game homestand this weekend when they welcome Princeton (16-6, 5-2) on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. before welcoming Penn (6-14, 2-5) on Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m.
Scott Cordischi, Russ Tyler '71, and Nick Coit will bring you the action live on ESPN+ for both games while Jake Levin, Kevin McNamara, and Nick Coit will bring you the action on the Brown Varsity Network via the Brown Bears app, Varsity Network app, or BrownBears.com.
This weekend will be the annual Alumni Weekend as Friday evening against Princeton will be Faculty & Staff Appreciation and Saturday evening against Penn will be Rhode Island Educators Appreciation.
Last Time Out
Brown suffered a 74-72 loss at Columbia (Feb. 8). The Bears held a 69-59 lead with 3:58 remaining in the second half, but Columbia closed the game on a 15-3 to earn the victory.
Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson led the Bears offensively with a career-high 16 points on 7-9 shooting to go along with six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks. After a three-game absence, Landon Lewis returned to the lineup with 14 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor to go along with three blocks.
History Made, The Chase Continues
Kino Lilly Jr. is now the all-time leader in program history with 313 three-pointers made. Lilly Jr. also sits second all-time in career points with 1,781, he is 261 points away from being the all-time program scoring leader.
Lilly Jr. ranks third in Ivy League history in three-pointers made (313). Against Dartmouth (Jan. 25), Lilly Jr. became the third player in Ivy League history and the first player in program history to hit 300 three-pointers.
Ivy iverson
Kino Lilly Jr. is averaging 18.8 points per game on 41.7 percent shooting from the field and 42.7 percent shooting from three- point range this season. He is also shooting 45.1 percent from three-point range in Ivy League play.
The senior is averaging 3.65 three-pointers per game and is on pace to hit 98 triples, which would break Brown's single-season record of 93 set by Sean McGonagill during the 2013-14 season. Lilly Jr. hit 90 triples during the 2023-24 campaign.
Lilly Jr.'s pace would put him third in Ivy League history for most three-pointers made in a single-season behind Ryan Wittman (Cornell) who hit 109 during the 2009-10 season and Matt Morgan (Cornell) who hit 107 during the 2018-19 season.
The Glenn Dale, Md. native's 3.65 three-pointers per game ranks third in the nation, his 73 total three-pointers made sits 24th nationally, and his 19.1 points per game ranks 45th nationally.
His 313 career three-pointers made ranks 17th in the nation among active players.
Cooley Continues To Impress
Aaron Cooley is averaging 11.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, the senior has double-figure scoring efforts in 13 out of 20 games.
Cooley scored a career-high 28 points in Brown's 83-82 win at Cornell (Jan. 20), he also had a career-high 10 field goals made against the Big Red. Cooley's 28 points was the most by a Bear this season. The Roxbury, Mass. native shot 10-13 from the floor and 3-3 from three-point range; all three of Cooley's triples came in the first half. Cooley shot a perfect 4-4 from the floor in the second half while grabbing seven total rebounds.
Cooley also had a career-high 15 rebounds in Brown's season opener at Siena (Nov. 4). Cooley's 15 rebounds is the third-most by an Ivy League player this season, he's recorded double-digit rebounds in four games.
Cooley is shooting 46.7 percent from the floor this season and is shooting 49.2 percent in Ivy League play and his 6.7 rebounds per game ranks fifth in the Ivy League.
Lewis' Leap
In the absence of Nana Owusu-Anane, Landon Lewis has scored in double figures in 14 out of 16 games played this season. Lewis has scored 15 or more points in eight out of 16 games played.
Lewis netted a career-high 21 points in Brown's win over Bryant (Dec. 6) on 9-12 shooting from the floor, he recorded his first career double-double in Brown's win over Sacred Heart (Nov. 17) with 14 points and 11 rebounds on a perfect 6-6 shooting; he backed up that effort with 17 points (8-11) shooting at Canisius (Nov. 23).
Lewis' 2.9 offensive boards per game ranks first in the Ivy League, his 6.7 rebounds per game is sixth in the Ivy League.
Lewis' 59.3 field goal percentage ranks 18th in the nation and first in the Ivy League. The Los Angeles, Calif. native is averaging 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season.
On the defensive end, Lewis has recorded four or more blocks on three separate occasions. Lewis' 1.50 blocks per game ranks fourth in the Ivy League. After a three-game absence, Lewis recorded 14 points on 6-10 shooting at Columbia to go along with three blocks.
Senior Leadership
Over the last eight games, Lyndel Erold is shooting 28-53 from the floor and has recorded double-digit scoring efforts in four out of seven Ivy League games.
Erold matched a then career-high 15 points in Brown's Ivy League opener at Yale (Jan. 11) on 5-8 shooting, Erold then had 11 points on 5-9 shooting at Cornell (Jan. 20), he then followed up his performance at Cornell with a career-high 20 points with four three-pointers made against Dartmouth (Jan. 25).
At Penn (Jan. 31), Erold grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds, eight of which were defensive. He also had two blocks for the Bears in the final 3:24 of the contest, helping Brown earn the victory.
Erold is shooting 45.3 percent from the floor and 39.3 percent from three-point range in Ivy League action. Most recently, Erold grabbed nine rebounds, eight of which were defensive at Columbia.

Princeton enters the Pizzitola Sports Center riding a two-game winning streak and a three-game road winning streak. The Tigers are 3-0 on the road in Ivy League play and earned a 61-59 win at Penn in their last contest (Feb. 7).
In the first meeting between these two teams this season, Princeton picked up a 69-49 win inside Jadwin Gymnasium (Feb. 1).
Xavian Lee paces the Tigers with 16.2 points and 5.5 assists per game. Reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Caden Pierce is averaging 12.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game on 49.0 shooting from the floor.
Scouting Penn (6-14, 2-5)
The Quakers enter the Pizzitola Sports Center looking to snap a three-game losing streak, Penn is 0-1 on the road in Ivy League action. In the first meeting between these two teams this season, Brown picked up a 88-79 win inside The Palestra (Jan. 31).
Ethan Roberts leads Penn with 17.8 points per game, he's shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 38.9 percent from three-point range. Nick Spinoso is shooting 48.8 percent from the floor while averaging 12.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
