Men’s Basketball Defeats Elms College For Third-Straight Home Victory

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team (5-6) defeated Elms College, 115-34, for its third-straight home victory on Saturday inside the Pizzitola Sports Center.
"I thought after the first five minute stretch where we weren't great, we played well and used our size, athleticism and physicality to our advantage," Men's Basketball Head Coaching Chair Mike Martin '04 said. "Hopefully we continue to improve as we move forward."
After Elms opened the game with a made three-pointer, Brown proceeded with a 32-5 run to bring the score to 34-8 lead. Brown led by as much as 44 in the first half and took a 63-19 advantage into halftime behind 24-42 shooting from the floor.
Brown's 63 first half points were the most since it scored 63 second half points against Harvard (Feb. 23, 1991).
Brown had 11 out of 13 players who saw the floor score in the first half, Isaiah Langham, Jeremiah Jenkins, and Luke Paragon each had a team-high eight first half points. The Bears had 12 first half steals and 12 assists on 24 made field goals.
The Bears kept their foot on the gas in the second half as they outscored the Blazers 52-15. Charlie O'Sullivan led the way with 13 points in the second half, the freshman finished with his first career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Bears had 14 assists on 22 made field goals in the second half.
Brown led by as much as 84 in the second half as it held on for the victory.
All 13 Bears scored in the win as six players scored in double figures as O'Sullivan led the way. Overall, Brown shot 60.5 percent from the floor and 42.4 from beyond the arc, both are season highs. The Bears' 20 steals are tied for the ninth-most in a single game nationally this season, Brown also had 26 assists and 46 made field goals.
Brown's 115 points matches a program record set against Harvard (Feb. 23, 1991).
Brown will travel to Providence on Tuesday, Dec. 9, tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. inside the Amica Mutual Pavilion.
