Men's Hockey Returns to ECAC Play at No. 10 Dartmouth, No. 20 Harvard

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (3-7-0, 2-4-0 ECAC) hit the road for an ECAC weekend to take on the tenth-ranked Dartmouth Big Green (8-0-0, 4-0-0 ECAC) on Friday and the 20th-ranked Harvard Crimson (5-3-1, 3-1-0 ECAC) on Saturday.
Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend with a 3-7-0 overall record and 2-4-0 ECAC mark. The Bears sit eighth in the conference standings with seven league points and are just two points back of third place.
- Brown's offense averages 2.00 goals per game with sophomore Charlie Gollob leading the pack with three goals. Sophomore Ivan Zadvernyuk leads the team with seven assists and eight points and 12 Bears have multiple points this season.
- The power play enters the weekend at 10.7% (3-28) with Zadvernyuk, Ben Poitras, and Michael Salandra tallying the man-up goals.
- Defensively, Brown allows 3.00 goals per game to rank 33rd nationally. Tyler Shea holds a 2.52 goals against average and .913 save percentage in seven games and Fred Halyk holds a 3.20 goals against average and .904 save percentage in four starts.
- Brown's penalty kill ranks 37th nationally at 78.4% (29-37). Most recently, Brown kept Northeastern off the board on the power play.
- The Bears hold a 49.7% win-rate at the faceoff dot to rank 33rd nationally.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
- Dartmouth enters the weekend with a perfect 8-0-0 record and 4-0-0 conference mark. The Big Green rank tenth in both the USCHO.com and the USA Hockey polls.
- The Big Green most recently beat Vermont and Merrimack in a home weekend and hold conference wins over Colgate, Cornell, Clarkson, and St. Lawrence.
- Dartmouth averages 4.3 goals per game to lead the ECAC and rank second in the nation. Hayden Stavroff leads the team with seven goals and 11 points.
- Nine players have at least five points this season, 14 have multiple points, and 19 have recorded a point through eight games.
- Dartmouth's power play clicks at 25% (7-28) to rank atop the ECAC and tied for ninth nationally.
- Defensively, Dartmouth allows just 1.10 goals per game to lead the NCAA.
- Emmett Croteau holds a 0.75 goals against average and .970 save percentage in four starts. Roan Clarke owns a 1.51 goals against average and .921 save percentage in four starts.
- Dartmouth's penalty kill ranks second in the conference and third nationally at 91.3% (21-23).
- The Big Green also rank fourth in the ECAC and 23rd nationally at the faceoff dot (51.4%).
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Friday marks the 171st meeting between Brown and Dartmouth in a series dating back to 1928.
- Dartmouth holds the series edge, 89-72-9, along with a 48-31-3 record in Hanover.
- The Bears look to snap a three-game losing streak to the Big Green on Friday.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
- Harvard enters the weekend with a 5-3-1 overall record and 3-1-0 ECAC mark. The Crimson are receiving votes in the USCHO.com poll and are ranked 20th in the USA Hockey poll.
- The Crimson most recently fell in consecutive games to top ranked Michigan at home. Michigan captured a 5-1 win and a 4-3 overtime win over the Crimson.
- Harvard owns wins over Vermont, St. Lawrence, Clarkson, Colgate, and Stonehill.
- Harvard's offense averages 3.2 goals per game to rank fifth in the ECAC and 23rd nationally. Mick Thompson leads the team with nine assists and 12 points. Philip Tresca leads the Crimson with six goals.
- Harvard's power play ranks sixth in the ECAC at 19.4% (6-31).
- Defensively, Harvard allows 2.8 goals per game to rank fifth in the conference.
- Ben Charette has played every minute in goal and holds a 2.75 goals against average and .917 save percentage.
- Harvard's penalty kill leads the nation at 92% (23-25).
- Harvard wins just 45.7% of its faceoffs to rank 58th nationally.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Saturday is the 187th meeting between Brown and Harvard in the oldest college hockey series in the nation. The Bears and Crimson first played in 1898.
- Harvard holds the series advantage, 120-50-16, along with a 66-22-6 home record.
- The series has been tightly contested in recent years with Harvard holding a 4-3-3 record in the last 10 meetings. Brown is 2-1-2 in the last five meetings.
ONE LAST GAME AT MATTHEWS
- Brown made its final trip to the historic Matthews Arena last Saturday (Nov. 29), ultimately falling to the 11th-ranked Huskies, 4-1.
- Matt Desiderio tallied the lone Brown goal with assists going to Ben Poitras and Ivan Zadvernyuk.
- Fred Halyk stopped 28 shots in the loss.
- The Bears played 36 games against Northeastern at Matthews Arena and finished with a 19-17-0 record in those contests.
OFF TO SWITZERLAND
- Assistant Coach and Director of Operations Evan Moorhouse was added to the staff for the United States Collegiate Selects squad for the upcoming Spengler Cup.
- Moorhouse will serve as video coach in addition to hockey operations duties in Davos, Switzerland in late December.
- He joins a staff that is led by Penn State head coach Guy Gadowsky. Former Brown assistant and current New Hampshire head coach Mike Souza and Niagara head coach Jason Lammers will serve as the assistant coaches.
- It marks the first time collegiate players will represent the United States at the historic Spengler Cup, the 97th iteration of the international tournament.
- The United States opens the tournament against Team Canada on December 26.
