Men’s Basketball Set to Open 2025-26 Season Against Siena and Vermont This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team will open its 2025-26 campaign at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Friday, Nov. 7 when they welcome Siena (1-0) and Vermont (2-0) on Sunday, Nov. 9.
Tip-off against Siena will be at 7 p.m. and tip-off against Vermont will be at 2 p.m. Scott Cordischi, Russ Tyler '71, and Nick Coit will bring you the action live on ESPN+ for both games while you can listen to Jorge Bannister, Kevin McNamara, and Nick Coit on the Brown Varsity Network via the Brown Bears app, Varsity Network app, or BrownBears.com for both games.
Fans can purchase tickets for both games here, Sunday's game against Vermont will be Brown's Youth Day.
Scouting Brown
Brown will look to win its first season opener since the 2021-22 season. Last season, the Bears finished 14-13 overall and 6-8 in Ivy League play.
The Bears returned 11 players from their 2024-25 squad, 10 out of 11 players saw action last season. Six out of 11 returners made 20 or more appearances last season.
Brown welcomed four newcomers ahead of the 2025-26 season in Jonah Drezner, Isaiah Langham, Brady Loughlin, and Charlie O'Sullivan. Additionally, the Bears added Omar Lowery and Ta-Rel Franklin to its coaching staff, Lowery was added as an assistant coach and Franklin joined as the operations coordinator.
Tyson Wheeler was promoted to associate head coach after spending three seasons as an assistant coach, DeVon Price was promoted to assistant coach after serving as the operations coordinator last season.
Scouting Siena
Siena opened its season with a 82-66 win over Bryant (Nov. 3), Tasman Goodrick led the way with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Goodrich was one of four double digit scorers for the Saints, Siena shot 46.3 percent from the floor in their win over the Bulldogs.
Defensively, the Saints had 12 steals in their win over Bryant.
Led by second-year coach Gerry McNamara, Siena was picked second in the MAAC preseason poll.
Scouting Vermont
Vermont opened its 2025-26 season with two wins at home over Western New England (Nov. 3) and Plattsburgh State (Nov. 5). Brown will be Vermont's first Division I opponent this season.
Through its first two games, the Catamounts are averaging 94.0 points per game while holding their opponents to 65.0 points per game.
Vermont has four players averaging double figures this season in TJ Long (18.0), TJ Hurley (13.5), Ben Wesson (13.0), and Lucas Mari (11.0). Mari is also averaging a team-high 9.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists.
History
Brown is 1-2 all-time against Siena; the Bears fell 72-71 in overtime in last season's opener.
Brown is 3-3 all-time against Vermont. Brown picked up a 60-53 victory last season at Patrick Gymnasium, snapping the Catamounts' 14-game home winning streak.
