Joy Okonye Named Ivy Offensive Player of the Year, Unanimous First Teamer alongside Naya Cardoza

PRINCETON, N.J. – The 2025 Ivy League All-Conference teams were announced on Wednesday, and Brown received eight awards, highlighted by Joy Okonye being named the Offensive Player of the Year. Overall, Okonye and Naya Cardoza received unanimous First Team All-Ivy, Corine Gregory, Audrey Lam, and Ayla Sahin were named Second Team All-Ivy, and Brooke Birtwistle appeared on the Honorable Mention team.
Okonye led the Ivy League with 19 total points and four game-winning goals, and the junior is tied atop the Ivy League with seven goals. Joy becomes the second Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year in the Kia McNeill era, following Brittany Raphino's three-peat in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Okonye also earned a First Team All-Ivy selection for the second consecutive season. The Lagos, Nigeria native also appeared on the TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top 100 list.
Cardoza is also tied with the most goals in the Ivy League with seven goals this season. The Jamaican Senior National Team representative earned First Team All-Ivy for the first time in her career, and her third overall All-Ivy selection (honorable mention twice). She appeared in the TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top 100 and received Ivy Defensive Player of the Week twice this season.
Gregory and Lam were recognized as Second Team All-Ivy for the first time in their respective careers. Gregory scored a career-high four goals this season, while Lam collected four assists in 16 starts at midfield for Brown. Joining the duo on the Second Team for the second consecutive season was Sahin, who picked up five goals and an assist in 16 games (15 starts). Sahin won Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week after game-winning goals in Brown's victories over Rhode Island and UConn.
Birtwistle appeared on the Honorable Mention squad. Birtwistle has started all 16 games and tallied four assists.
Layla Shell was named Academic All-Ivy for her efforts in the classroom and on the pitch.
Brown holds the No. 4 seed in the 2025 Ivy League Women's Soccer Tournament and will take on No. 1 Princeton on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
