Men's Hockey Set for Non-Conference Clash at No. 11 Northeastern

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (3-6-0, 2-4-0 ECAC) head to Boston, Massachusetts to take on the 11th-ranked Northeastern Huskies (8-4-0, 4-3-0 HEA) Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.
Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown is coming off a series split against Yale last weekend and owns a 3-6-0 overall record and 2-4-0 ECAC mark.
- Brown's offense averages 2.1 goals per game with sophomore Charlie Gollob pacing the team with three goals. Six other Bears have two goals on the season and sophomore Ivan Zadvernyuk leads the team with six assists and seven points.
- Brown's power play enters Saturday at 12% (3-25).
- Defensively, Brown allows 2.8 goals per game to rank 29th nationally.
- Tyler Shea holds a 2.52 goals against average and a .913 save percentage in seven games. Fred Halyk holds a 3.25 goals against average and a .904 save percentage in three games.
- The penalty kill ranks ninth in the ECAC at 76.5% (26-34).
- Northeastern enters Saturday with an 8-4-0 overall record and 4-3-0 Hockey East mark. The Huskies rank 11th in the nation per the USCHO.com poll and 12th in the nation per the USA Hockey poll.
- The Huskies most recently split a weekend series with Boston University, winning the first game at Matthews Arena before falling in overtime at Agganis Arena.
- Northeastern's offense averages three goals per game to rank sixth in Hockey East and 29th nationally. Dylan Hryckowian leads the team with seven goals and 13 points. Jacob Mathieu leads the Huskies with 10 assists and 13 points.
- Northeastern's power play clicks at 21.9% (7-32) to rank fifth in Hockey East and 27th nationally.
- Defensively, the Huskies allow 2.1 goals per game to rank fifth in Hockey East and 27th in the NCAA.
- Former Brown goaltender Lawton Zacher owns a 1.80 goals against average and .943 save percentage in 10 starts. He missed both starts last weekend against BU and Quentin Sigurdson posted a 2.91 goals against average and .926 save percentage in those games.
- Northeastern's penalty kill leads the conference and ranks ninth nationally at 87.2% (34-39).
- Saturday marks the 79th meeting between Brown and Northeastern in a series dating back to 1930.
- The Bears hold a 48-28-2 all-time record against the Huskies along with a 19-16-0 record at Matthews Arena.
- It marks the third straight season the Bears and Huskies have squared off with Northeastern winning the last two meetings.
- Brown and Northeastern met annually from 1930-39 and 1950-84 and have played just six times since 1984.
- Brown and Yale split the season series last weekend with each team picking up a home win.
- Brown took a 4-2 win at Meehan Auditorium in the first game behind a 29-save effort from Fred Halyk and two goals from freshman Matthew Cataldo. Cataldo tallied the shorthanded game-winning goal in the third period.
- Yale responded on Saturday with a 3-1 win behind a 40-save effort from Jack Stark. Brown sophomore Ivan Zadvernyuk tallied his first goal of the season late in the third period to end the shutout bid.
- Brown and Yale have each won six of the last 12 meetings with four series splits and one sweep apiece.
- Cataldo's shorthanded game-winner at home against Yale marked the second man-down goal of the season for the Bears.
- Ryan St. Louis tallied a shorthanded game-winner earlier this season against Princeton (Nov. 7).
- Since the 1999-2000 season, Brown has recorded multiple shorthanded goals in 18-of-26 seasons.
- Since the 1999-2000 season, Brown has eight shorthanded game-winning goals. This season marks the first time Brown has had multiple in a season. The full list is below:
