Men's Hockey Hits the Road to Take On #19 Cornell, Colgate

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (1-3-0, 1-1-0 ECAC) hit the road to take on the 19th-ranked Cornell Big Red (2-2-0, 1-1-0 ECAC) on Friday before squaring off against the Colgate Raiders (2-7-1, 0-2-0 ECAC) on Saturday. Both games are set to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the road weekend with a 1-3-0 overall record and 1-1-0 ECAC mark. The Bears picked up a 2-1 home win over Princeton before falling 4-3 in overtime to fifth-ranked Quinnipiac on Saturday at Meehan Auditorium.
- Brown's offense averages two goals per game and Ryan St. Louis leads the pack with two goals and three points. Matt Desiderio and Ivan Zadvernyuk have three assists apiece and Brian Nicholas has a goal and two assists through four games.
- Eleven different Bears have recorded a point in the first four games of the season.
- Brown's power play is 2-for-10 (20%) this season to rank fourth in the ECAC and 24th nationally.
- Defensively, Brown allows 2.8 goals per game to rank fifth in the conference. Senior Tyler Shea holds a 1.81 goals against average and a .944 save percentage in four games.
- The Bruno penalty kill ranks fifth in the ECAC at 83.3% (10-12).
- Cornell enters the weekend with a 2-2-0 overall record and 1-1-0 ECAC mark. The Big Red are ranked 19th in the USA Hockey poll and 20th in the USCHO.com poll.
- The Big Red opened the season with a split against 13th-ranked UMass before taking a 3-1 win over Harvard and suffering a 2-1 loss at Dartmouth last weekend.
- Offensively, Cornell averages 2.0 goals per game with Giovanni DiGiulian leading the team with three goals. Charlie Major, Caton Ryan, and Ryan Walsh each have two assists through four games.
- Cornell's power play has two goals in 15 attempts (13.3%) through four games.
- Defensively, the Big Red allow 1.5 goals per game to rank second in the ECAC and third nationally.
- Between the pipes, Alexis Cournoyer holds a 1.35 goals against average and .956 save percentage in three starts. Remington Keopple holds a 2.05 goals against average and .870 save percentage in one start.
- Cornell's faceoff unit leads the ECAC and ranks fourth nationally at 55.9%.
- Friday marks the 142nd meeting between Brown and Cornell in a series dating back to 1959.
- Cornell holds the series edge, 89-44-8, along with a 48-15-4 record at Lynah Rink.
- Brown looks for its first win in Ithaca since January 2013 and just the fifth road win since 1995.
- Colgate enters the weekend with a 2-7-1 overall record and 0-2-0 conference record. The Raiders most recently fell to Dartmouth and Harvard to open the conference season.
- The Raiders picked up wins over Canisius and Maine this season and skated to a 2-2 tie against Boston University. They have lost five straight games including the ECAC losses last weekend, two home losses to RIT, and an overtime loss at Maine.
- Colgate's offense averages 2.4 goals per game to rank seventh in the ECAC and 46th nationally.
- Jack Brandt and Max Nagel lead the Raiders with five goals apiece and Brandt leads the team with 10 points. Brandt and four other Raiders are tied for the most assists on the team with five.
- Colgate's power play has eight goals in 40 attempts (20%) to rank fourth in the conference and 24th nationally.
- Defensively, the Raiders allow 3.7 goals per game to rank tenth in the ECAC and 54th nationally. Reid Dyck holds a 3.21 goals against average and .870 save percentage in six starts. Andrew Takacs owns a 3.23 goals against average and .905 save percentage in four starts.
- Colgate's penalty kill ranks eighth in the ECAC at 77.1% (27-35).
- At the faceoff dot, Colgate ranks sixth in the ECAC and 31st nationally at 49.6%.
- Saturday marks the 104th meeting between Brown and Colgate in a series dating back to 1935.
- Colgate owns the series edge, 64-29-10, along with a 40-7-3 home record.
- The Bears captured a 2-1 win over the Princeton Tigers in the 2025-26 home opener Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.
- Ben Poitras tallied Brown's first goal for his first in a Brown uniform before Ryan St. Louis broke the tie halfway through the third period.
- Tyler Shea recorded 26 saves in the victory over the Tigers, the third straight win by Brown in the series.
- On Saturday, Brown struck for two goals in the third period to force overtime against fifth-ranked Quinnipiac, ultimately falling in the extra frame to the Bobcats.
- Shea recorded 39 saves in the loss to Quinnipiac.
- St. Louis recorded his tenth career game-winning goal in the third period against Princeton (Nov. 7). His GWG came on a short handed breakaway halfway through the final period to break a 1-1 deadlock.
- He tallied six game-winning goals last season, the most in a single season in Brown history.
- With 10 in his Brown career, St. Louis is tied with Dave Kelly (1957-60) and two shy of matching the record held by Bob Wheeler (1949-52) and Ryan Mulhern (1992-96).
- Shea stopped 53-of-55 shots faced in the opening weekend against Air Force. Shea then compiled 65 saves against Princeton and Quinnipiac.
- This season, Shea holds a .944 save percentage and 1.81 goals against average in four games.
- Among goalies with 100+ minutes played this season, Shea's .944 save percentage is fourth in the ECAC and tied for seventh nationally. His 1.81 goals against average ranks fifth in the ECAC and 15th nationally.
