Men's Hockey Hosts #5 Providence College in Mayor's Cup Game

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (4-6-2, 2-5-1 ECAC) host the fifth-ranked Providence College Friars (14-3-2, 5-2-2 HEA) in the annual Mayor's Cup battle Tuesday night at Meehan Auditorium.
Tomorrow night's game will broadcast regionally on SNY and stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters Tuesday night with a 4-6-2 overall record and 2-5-1 ECAC mark. The Bears dropped conference games to Union and Rensselaer last weekend.
- Offensively, Brown averages 2.2 goals per game with captain Max Scott leading the team with six goals. Freshman Brian Nicholas is tied for the team lead with eight assists and leads the team with 13 points.
- Brown's power play clicks at 14.3% (4-for-28) with Nicholas leading the team with two power play goals and four power play points.
- Defensively, Brown allows 2.3 goals per game to rank second in the ECAC and 12th nationally.
- Goaltender Lawton Zacher holds a .939 save percentage and 1.89 goals against average in 10 starts. Tyler Shea holds a .926 save percentage and 2.59 goals against average in two starts.
- Brown's penalty kill clicks at 80.6% (29-36) to rank 31st nationally.
- PC enters Tuesday as the nation's fifth-ranked team with a 14-3-2 overall record and 5-2-2 Hockey East mark.
- The Friars have won seven straight games with their last loss coming in mid-November against Boston College.
- Most recently, the Friars took consecutive wins over Northeastern (12/28) and Dartmouth (12/29) in Hanover.
- Offensively, PC averages 3.3 goals per game to rank ninth in the NCAA.
- Tanner Adams leads the team with nine goals and ranks second on the team with 15 points. Logan Will leads the Friars in assists (11) and points (17).
- In addition to Adams and Will, nine other Friars have double-digit points this season.
- Providence's power play enters Tuesday at 16.7% (10-60) to rank 45th in the NCAA.
- Defensively, PC allows 2.4 goals per game to rank 16th in the country.
- Between the pipes, Philip Svedeback holds a 2.24 goals against average and .918 save percentage in 13 starts.
- PC's penalty kill ranks 21st nationally at 82.3% (51-62).
- Tuesday marks the 108th meeting between Brown and Providence College dating back to 1927.
- Brown holds a 48-56-3 all-time series record along with a 28-28-1 home record.
- Zacher's .939 save percentage leads the ECAC and ranks fourth nationally.
- His 1.89 goals against average ranks third in the ECAC and 12th in the NCAA.
- Zacher is also tied for eighth in the NCAA with two shutouts.
- Ryan St. Louis pushed his point streak to three games with an assist against Union.
- The junior returned from injury to post multi-point games against Northeastern (12/7) and LIU (12/29) before adding an assist against Union (1/3).
- Captain Tony Andreozzi skated in his 100th career game at Northeastern (Dec. 7).
- Assistant captain Brett Bliss recorded his 100th career game against Union (Jan. 3).
- They are the first Bears since the 2019-20 season to reach the century milestone.
- Andreozzi has not missed a game in his career.
- Three Bears reached the 100-game milestone in the 2019-20 season: Brent Beaudoin (127), Trey Dodd (108), and Zach Giuttari (121). Beaudoin did not miss a game in his career.
- Michael Maloney (96), Justin Jallen (94) and Luke Krys (92) were the closest Bears to the milestone in recent years. Neither Maloney nor Krys missed a game in their respective careers.
