PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown rising senior pitcher Jack Seppings has become that latest member of the Brown baseball program to ink a professional contract after singing as a free agent with the Milwaukee Brewers.
A Newnan, Georgia native and dual citizen of the U.S. and Great Britain, Seppings has been a key member of the Bears the last three seasons, serving as the team's closer in 2022-2023 before entering the rotation as the No. 1 weekend starter as a junior in 2024. In 2023, he was a member of the taxi/reserve squad for Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic and pitched a scoreless inning of relief in an exhibition game against the Milwaukee Brewers. Last summer, he was a member of Great Britain's U23 National Team, and split time with the Amsterdam Mohawks (PGCBL) and the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod League.
This summer, Seppings returned to the Cape League and played for the Falmouth Commodores, posting a 1-2 record and a 2.51 ERA while striking out 20 over 14.1 innings.
As a member of the Bears, Seppings served as one of the team's most trusted bullpen arms in 2022 and 2023, earning Second Team All-Ivy honors in 2023 after leading the team with 18 appearances and four saves. On April 5, 2022, he recorded the final three outs of the first no-hitter in program history and finished his rookie campaign with 23 strikeouts to just two walks over 15.0 innings of work.
In 2024, he made a team-leading 13 starts and struck out 53 batters over 58.2 innings. He concludes his career with 125 strikeouts over 110.2 innings pitched.
Seppings is the second former Bear to sign professionally this summer. Earlier this month, Seppings' former teammate Charlie Beilenson '22 was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners.
