GAME 1 VS. COLUMBIA
Freshman Drew Nelson dominated for the Bears on the mound, going 8.0 shutout innings, allowing six hits and no walks with two strikeouts on 109 pitches. He only had five batters go to three-ball counts throughout his outing.
Over two outings at Yale's Bush '48 Field this season, he allowed just one earned run, 10 hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 15.0 innings.
DJ Dillehay had two hits in the opener, Mark Henshon drew three walks, and Christian Butera had two RBIs.
After two quick outs in the bottom of the first, Brown put four consecutive runners on base with a single by Dillehay and three walks. Henshon drew a free pass with the bases loaded for the 1-0 lead.
The two teams traded zeroes through the next four innings, with Nelson allowing just five batters to reach base through the first five innings.
The Lions put up a major threat in the fifth inning, putting men at the corners with one out. A fly ball down the right field line was caught by Alex Benevento in foul territory on the mound in the bullpen. He then came up and threw a strike to Jack Edmunds to nail the runner at the plate attempting to tag up to end the inning and preserve the 1-0 lead.

Brown created some breathing room with three runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth. A single by Dillehay and double by Meusy put two in scoring position with one out. Henshon was intentionally walked to bring up Christian Butera, who lined a two-run single to right field. Brandon Chang followed with a perfectly executed safety squeeze sac bunt to score Henshon and push the lead to 4-0.

Columbia did not go down without a fight, pushing two unearned runs across in the top of the ninth and brought the tying run to the plate with one out before Christian Keel induced a fielder's choice and groundout to end the game.
GAME 2 VS. YALE
Freshman Camren Piwnicki tossed a career-high 6.1 innings of relief out of the bullpen, allowing three runs on six hits in a gritty performance.
The Bears struck first right out of the gate with a run on three hits, including an RBI single by Benevento to plate Matt Luigs for the quick 1-0 lead.
Brown added two more in the third as Andrew Hanlon drove an RBI single to center field, and Petersen knocked in another run with an infield single for his 200th career knock to push the lead to 3-0.
The Bulldogs answered back with three runs of their own in the bottom of the second, sending nine men to the plate and tying the game 3-3 before Piwnicki entered to a bases loaded jam and got a huge strikeout to escape.
The Bulldogs added two more in the third, loading the bases with nobody out and taking a 5-3 lead on pair of sac flys. Two more runs on three hits in the fourth took control of the game with a 7-3 lead. Meusy's spectacular catch to end the fourth took at least one more run off the board.

Yale pitching held Brown hitless from the third inning until the eighth when Brown fought back with two runs. Benevento provided the spark by leading off the eighth with a single, followed by two walks. Meusy was then hit by a pitch to force in a run, and Butera drove home Dillehay with a sac fly to make it 7-5 before Brown stranded the bases loaded.
Petersen led off the ninth with a single to bring the tying run to the plate, but a strikeout and two pop outs ended the game.
