Softball Falls at Providence in Midweek Meeting

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown softball dropped its final non-conference game of the season, losing at Providence, 8-0 in six innings. Jayme Gross led Brown going 2-for-2 at the plate.
Brown (17-22) finished the game with five hits with Jasmine Hsiao, Dara English and Cameron Zytkewicz Ray all collecting base hits.
The Bears loaded the bases in the first after a double by Hsiao, single by English and Moe Kastens getting hit by a pitch but a strikeout ended Brown's chance to get on the board.
Providence (21-21-1) took advantage of an error to start of the bottom of the first and a two-out double scored two runs. The Friars doubled their lead with a two-run home run to begin the third inning.
Brown get another runner to third in the fourth inning but a groundout kept the Bears off the board.
Providence closed out the game scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
UP NEXT
Brown will close out the regular season with a three-game series hosting Penn. The series will begin with a single game on Friday at 4 p.m. before a doubleheader on Saturday at 12:30. Brown will celebrate its five seniors before the first game on Saturday.
