Junior Nathan Brasher went 3-for-6 combined in the two games with a pair of doubles and three RBIs while swiping four bases, all of which came in game two. Junior Gunner Boree reached base all five times he stepped to the plate with a hit, four walks, and five RBIs, including a three-run homer that put the Bears ahead for good. Mika Petersen and Mark Henshon added two hits apiece in game two batting at the top of the lineup.
GAME ONE
The Tigers struck for three runs on three hits in the top of the second inning for the early lead. Brown answered back with a run in the bottom of the third as Charles Crawford sat on a 2-0 fastball and launched it out to right field for this third home run of the season.
The Tigers struck right back in the fourth, getting the run back and then some after a walk and two-run homer to extend the lead to 5-1.
Brown got one run back via four walks in the fifth inning, with DJ Dillehay battling back from being down 1-2 to draw a bases loaded free pass.
Princeton tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth on two hits to regain the five-run edge at 7-2 and dip into the Brown bullpen. Brown got one run back in the bottom of the frame after Reece Rappoli led off with a single to center field and came in to score on a ground ball by Andrew Hanlon.
Princeton blew the game wide open in the seventh with an onslaught of nine runs on nine hits, putting the first 10 batters on base and plating all nine runs before an out was recorded to push the lead to 16-3.
Brown strung four hits together and put two runs on the board in the seventh, as Brady Dever delivered a pinch hit RBI single, and Brasher added a sac fly to make it 16-5. The Bears added three more in the ninth, coming on an infield single by Hanlon and a pair of bases loaded walks.
GAME TWO
Princeton took advantage of a pair of walks and a wild pitch for a 1-0 lead in the second inning, then scored another run unearned in the third after a two-out error.
Brown threatened but stranded two runners on base in each of the first three innings before breaking out with five runs in the fourth inning. Cooke started the rally with a solo home run to left-center. Two batters later, Petersen reached on a single and eventually tied the game on a wild pitch. Boree delivered the big blow with a huge two-out, three-run homer to left center field to spot the Bears their first lead of the afternoon, 5-2.
The Bears put two more on the board in the fifth as Brasher singled, stole two bases and came in on a double by Petersen. Petersen later crossed the plate on a bases loaded walk by Boree to push the lead to 7-2 through five innings.
Brown pushed across three more in the eighth inning with Brasher delivering the key hit with a two-run double. Four straight walks in the eighth plated the team's final run of the game.
The Bears and Tigers will conclude their three-game series on Sunday with a first pitch set for noon.
