Baseball’s Holbrook Named ECAC Coach of the Year

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Head Coaching Chair in Baseball Frank Holbrook has earned his second major award of the postseason, being named the ECAC Coach of the Year, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Holbrook and his staff were previously recognized as the Ivy League Coaching Staff of the Year back on May 14.
In his first season as Brown's skipper, Holbrook and his coaching staff played an instrumental role in the Bears' turnaround this season, which culminated with an appearance in the finals of the Ivy League Tournament. Brown finished the season 23-20 overall and earned the No. 3 seed in the Ivy Tournament. Brown's 23 wins were more than the two previous seasons combined, and the team earned eight All-Ivy selections, tied for the second-most in program history. Senior outfielder Mika Petersen was named the Ivy League Player of the Year, and Brown ranked fourth in the league in team batting average, while leading the league with a 3.92 team ERA in league games.
