Softball Takes Series at Princeton with Win on Sunday

PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown softball (17-21, 9-9 Ivy) beat Princeton (24-13, 12-6 Ivy) 2-1 on Sunday to earn the series win against the Tigers.

With the win, Brown earned its first series win against Princeton since the 1997 season. Brown also now has nine Ivy League wins, tying the 2023 season for the most since winning 10 Ivy League games since 2004.

Alexis Guevara picked up her 10th win of the season with a complete game effort. Guevara scattered six hits and five walks while only allowing one run and striking out three. In total, Guevara forced Princeton into leaving 10 runners on base.

Princeton left two runners on in the first and Brown kept the Tigers off the board in the third after loading the bases with no outs.

In the fourth, Jasmine Hsiao walked and stole second. Two batters later Dara English doubled to left center to bring home Hsiao.

Princeton tied the game in the fourth and loaded the bases again with two outs but Guevara forced a pop out to Hsiao at first to keep the game tied.

Vanessa Alexander walked to start the fifth and moved to second on a sac bunt. After another walk, Brianna Rodriguez doubled to bring home Alexander.

Guevara allowed a walk with two outs in the fifth but retired the last seven batters for Princeton to close out the game.

UP NEXT

Brown will play its final non-conference game of the season when the Bears hit the road across town to Providence on Wednesday night.
