Softball Beats Cornell Behind Hsiao's Four RBI

ITHACA, N.Y. – Brown softball began its series at Cornell getting the bats going as the Bears won 10-2 in six innings.
Jasmine Hsiao led the way for Brown, going 3-for-3 with 4 RBI, while Lily Berlinger, Dara English and Leah Carey all had two hits.
Alexis Guevara picked up her seventh win of the season, throwing a complete game, allowing just two runs on six hits, while striking out five.
Brown's offense started quickly picking up two runs in the top of the first. Jasmine Hsiao drove in Laurel Moody with a single to left and Brianna Rodriguez followed that with another single to left to score Hsiao.
The Bears pushed the lead to 3-0 on a single by Leah Carey that drove home Liv Kam.
Hsiao continued her big day in the third, doubling to the wall in left to score both Lily Berlinger and Moody. The Bears picked up another run as Dara English doubled to center to score Hsiao.
Cornell picked up runs in the third and fourth but Brown responded in the fifth.
Berlinger led off the fifth with her first home run of the season and Hsiao later scored in the inning to push the Bears' lead to 8-2.
In the sixth, Brown executed a double steal perfectly as Berlinger stole second and Vanessa Alexander came home on the throw. In the next at bat, Hsiao delivered with her third hit and fourth RBI of the day, scoring Berlinger to make it 10-2.
With a runner on second and one out in the bottom of the sixth, English snagged a line drive at third and doubled the runner off second to end the game.

Brown and Cornell will finish up the series with a doubleheader on Monday beginning at 11 a.m.
