Gymnastics Posts Season-High to Take Second Place at UNH

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown gymnastics team tied the program record on beam and posted its highest score of the season, tying for the fourth highest overall team score in program history on Sunday afternoon in a quad meet at the University of New Hampshire. Brown took home second place with 194.925 points and posted a big season-high on bars. UNH (195.875) took first place, followed by Brown, Temple (194.850) and Bridgeport (194.175).
The Bears started off on beam and delivered a strong opening performance, tying the program benchmark with 48.950 points, matching the mark they previously set back on February 19. Freshman Emily Ford led the way for Brown in third place overall with a new career-high of 9.900, tying Taylor Schule and teammate Jessica Lin for the second highest individual score in program history. Lindsey Yang and Angela Xing each tied for seventh with 9.800 scores, while McKenna Weiner and Liza Marcus each scored 9.725.
Next on floor, Brown scored 48.775 and was led by Julia Bedell who tied for third place at 9.850. Liza Marcus tied for sixth overall at 9.800, Lauren Kramer scored a 9.750, and Maya Davis scored 9.725.
Next on bars, Bedell led the Bears in sixth place with a 9.775, followed by Sophia Dewar at 9.750, as the Bears totaled 48.475.
Rounding out the meet on bars, Brown posted a huge season-high of 48.725, with Davis leading the way with a huge career-high of 9.850 to tie for third overall. Next up was Asta-Sollilja Farrell at 9.800, followed by a 9.750 from Lauren McKeown.
With the regular season now in the rearview mirror, Brown will head into the postseason on a high note as they will compete in next Saturday's GEC Championships. The seedings for the two-session meet will be announced on Monday.
