Dewar Qualifies for NCAA Regionals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown senior gymnast Sophia Dewar has qualified for NCAA Regionals on floor. The honor comes following a sensational season for the Chula Vista, California native that saw her earn First Team All-GEC honors on both vault and floor, as well as win the co-Ivy Classic individual championship title on floor.

Dewar will compete in the Lexington Regional on Friday, April 3 at 1 p.m. ET and will rotate with the University of Arkansas. Dewar's turn will come at the end of the first rotation. She joins Bridgeport's Nova Staruk (vault), Penn's Jordan Barrow (vault) and Manama Fofana (floor), and SCSU's Abby Royer (floor) as the five GEC gymnasts to qualify for regionals.

This marks the third consecutive season that Brown has had an NCAA Regional qualifier, joining Julia Bedell (2024-floor) and Maya Davis (2025-floor). This is only the second time in program history Brown has had a regional qualifier in three straight years (2002-2004).

Dewar qualifies for regionals after posting a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.870, which ranks third in the GEC and is tied for 109th overall in the nation. A consistent performer all season for Brown, she matched her career-high of 9.875 on floor five times during the 2026 campaign, including on February 22 when she tied for first place to win her first Ivy Classic title. On March 1 against SUNY Cortland, she won on both vault and floor en route to being voted the GEC Gymnast of the Week. She set a new career-high on vault of 9.850 to win the event at Temple on February 13, which ties for the fifth-best vault score in program history.

She is one of only two Brown gymnasts to rank in the top 25 in the conference on three different events.

As a team, Brown finished the regular season with an NQS of 193.917, the third highest in program history. Each of the team's top four all-time National Qualifying Scores have come in the last four years. The team's final ranking of 52nd nationally is the program's highest-ever finish, surpassing the previous high mark of No. 53 set in 2016.
