Baseball to Open 2024 Season at UT Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. – The Brown baseball team has arrived in Tennessee and is set to start the 2024 season this weekend with a three-game series at UT Martin in the first-ever matchups between the two schools.

The Bears are coming off a 12-26 season in 2023 and finished in sixth place in the Ivy League at 9-12, two games out of the fourth and final spot in the league tournament.

UT Martin is off to a 1-3 start to the season after dropping two out of three at home to Northern Kentucky last weekend and a midweek contest to Southern Illinois.
Despite their record, the Skyhawks lead the Ohio Valley Conference through the first week of the season in batting average (.320), runs scored (30), hits (48), doubles (11), and slugging percentage (.520).
Senior infielder Andrew Fernandez has gone 8-for-16 through the first four games with a pair of home runs and four RBIs.
Senior outfielder Hunter McLean holds a .923 slugging percentage while going 6-for-13 at the plate.
Cole Smith is off to a 5-for-11 start at the plate with a team-leading four walks.
Game two starter Eric Steensma earned the win over Northern Kentucky last weekend by allowing one run on three hits over 4.2 innings of work with two strikeouts.
