2/17/2024 3:03:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats (2-0, 0-0 MAAC) jumped to an early lead and took a 13-7 win over the Brown Bears (0-1, 0-0 Ivy League) behind 15 saves from Mason Oak on Saturday in Hamden.
Aidan McLane led the Bears with three goals with Matteo Corsi and Forrest Demetri both tallying two goals.
"Credit to Quinnipiac and Coach Poli, they beat us in every phase," said head coach Mike Daly. "I'm really disappointed in our result and that is a reflection of the head coach and is unacceptable in every possible fashion. We will get back to work and find solutions."
The Bobcats jumped to an early lead as Ryan Donnery and Steven Germain found the back of the net in the opening four minutes.
Corsi tallied Brown's first goal of the season with 7:10 remaining in the first quarter to make it 2-1. However, the Bobcats tallied the final three goals of the frame to take a 5-1 lead through 15 minutes.
McLane scored consecutive goals, one man-up, to cut into the Quinnipiac lead early in the second quarter. Germain finished the half with two more goals and Corsi added his second of the afternoon to make it 7-4 Quinnipiac at the break.
After three Bobcat goals to open the second half, McLane recorded his third goal of the afternoon for his fourth career hat trick.
Demetri tallied consecutive man-up goals halfway through the fourth quarter following a two-minute Bobcat penalty.
John DeLucia tallied the afternoon's final goal for the Bobcats to push the final to 13-7.
