Men’s Basketball Hosts Rhode Island on Tuesday Evening

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown Men's Basketball team (6-3) will welcome the University of Rhode Island (9-0) on Tuesday evening, tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Scott Cordischi, Russ Tyler '71, and Nick Coit will bring you the action live on ESPN+ and NESN. Jake Levin and Kevin McNamara will bring you the action on the Brown Varsity Network via the Brown Bears app, Varsity Network app, or BrownBears.com.
Tuesday night will also be Brown's white out game, all fans are encouraged to wear white.
Last Time Out
In a game that had 26 lead changes, Brown picked up its fifth consecutive win and its sixth in the last seven games with a 76-75 win at Bryant (Dec. 6).
Kino Lilly Jr.'s three-pointer with 2.2 seconds remaining gave Brown the win, he had a game-high 23 points on 7-14 shooting. Lilly Jr. shot a perfect 3-3 from three-point range in the second half against Bryant. Landon Lewis netted a career-high 21 points on 9-12 shooting from the field.
History Made, The Chase Continues
Kino Lilly Jr. is now the all-time leader in program history with 278 three-pointers made. Lilly Jr. sits fifth all-time in career points with 1,585, he is 84 points away from being the second-leading scorer in program history.
The senior ranks fifth all-time on the Ivy League three-point field goals made list, he is four triples away from being fourth in Ivy League history.

On Nov. 19, Lilly Jr. was named to the Lou Henson Award Early-Season Watch List. Lilly Jr's. game-winning three-pointer with 2.2 seconds left against Bryant gave Brown its fifth consecutive victory and sixth win in the last seven games.
The Glenn Dale, Md. native is averaging 19.9 points per game on 44.1 shooting from the field and 46.9 percent from three-point range this season.
Lilly Jr. is averaging 4.22 three-pointers made per game and is on pace to hit 118 triples this season, which would break Brown's single-season record of 93 set by Sean McGonagill during the 2013-14 season.
The senior's 4.22 three-pointers per game ranks third in the nation and his 38 total triples ranks second in the nation.
Aaron Cooley Continues To Impress
Aaron Cooley is averaging 12.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, the senior has double-figure scoring efforts in eight out of nine games this season and has three double-doubles.
Cooley scored a career-high 17 points in Brown's 77-54 win over Stony Brook (Nov. 27), he also had a career-high 15 rebounds in Brown's season-opener at Siena (Nov. 4). His 15 rebounds was the most by an Ivy League player this season, he's recorded double-digit rebounds in four games.
Cooley is shooting 49.4 percent from the floor this season while his 7.9 rebounds per game sits first in the Ivy League. Cooley's 6.1 defensive rebounds per game also ranks first in the Ivy League and 55th nationally.
Lewis' Leap
In the absence of Nana Owusu-Anane, Landon Lewis has scored in double figures in all nine games this season. Lewis scored a career-high 21 points on 9-12 shooting in Brown's win at Bryant. Lewis recorded his first-career double-double in Brown's win over Sacred Heart (Nov. 17) with 14 points and 11 rebounds; he backed up that effort with 17 points at Canisius (Nov. 23).
Lewis' 1.78 blocks per game ranks 55th in the nation and first in the ivy League, his 16 total blocks sits 55th in the nation, Lewis also recorded five blocks against Holy Cross (Nov. 16). Lewis' blocks per game and total blocks both rank first in the Ivy League.
The Los Angeles, Calif. native's 3.2 offensive boards per game sits atop the Ivy League leader board, his 7.7 rebounds per game is second in the Ivy League behind teammate Aaron Cooley.
Lewis' 67.4 field goal percentage ranks first in the Ivy League and 12th in the nation, Lewis is averaging 14.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
These Bears
This is the fifth time under Head Men's Basketball Coaching Chair Mike Martin '04 that the Bears have won five consecutive games and the second time in as many seasons, Brown ended the 2023-24 season on a six-game winning streak.
After starting 0-2, Brown has rattled off six wins in the last seven games, including three consecutive road victories. Two out of the five wins came against the class of the America East in Vermont and Bryant, both wins were on the road and both teams beat Brown during the 2023-24 season.
Brown also won games against Sacred Heart (Nov. 17), Canisius (Nov. 23), and Stony Brook (Nov. 27) during this streak. The Bears are 12-3 in their last 15 regular season games dating back to last season.
Home Sweet Home
The Bears have won two consecutive games at the Pizzitola Sports Center and have shot 28-55 from three-point range in those two games (50.9 percent). The Bears have 47 assists on 60 made field goals in the last two games at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Dabo's Big Night
N'famara Dabo had a career night in Brown's 76-75 win at Bryant as the sophomore had c career-high seven rebounds in a career-high 21 minutes played.
Six out of Dabo's seven rebounds came in the second half, he played 14 minutes in the second half while being a +11. The sophomore also had two rejections in the second half against the Bulldogs.
Lineup Changes
Brown has used four different lineups in nine games this season. The Bears are a perfect 5-0 since Malcolm Wrisby-Jefferson has joined the starting five, Wrisby-Jefferson's first game in the starting lineup was against Sacred Heart (Nov. 17).
Block Party
Brown ranks 34th in the nation and first in the Ivy League with 5.1 blocks per game, the Bears have accumulated at least five blocks in five out of nine games this season.
The Bears have two players who have recorded five blocks in a game this season: N'famara Dabo (Nov. 15) and Landon Lewis (Nov. 16). Landon Lewis also rejected four shots against Siena (Nov. 4).
Defensive Prowess
The Bears rank first in the Ivy League in scoring defense (66.7), Brown's scoring defense ranks 82nd in the nation.
In its win over Vermont, Brown allowed just six points in the final 8:18 of the contest. Brown also held Stony Brook to just one three-pointer made (1-16), the fewest since the Bears allowed just one triple against Colorado (Nov. 22, 2021).
Sharing The Wealth
Brown tallied 27 assists on 31 made field goals in its 89-70 win over Sacred Heart, 27 assists is the most since they recorded 26 in an 88-42 win over Lyndon State (Jan. 12, 2015).
Brown has had double-digit assists in eight out of nine games this season and has had 20 assists twice.
Brown had 20 assists in its win over Stony Brook and had 14 assists on 17 made field goals in the first half against the Seawolves.

The Bears have shot 41.9 percent (52-124) from distance during their five-game winning streak, they've recorded double-digit made triples in three games during the streak.
Brown's 15 made three-pointers against Sacred Heart was the most since they hit 16 against Dartmouth (Mar. 2, 2024), this is the only time Brown has connected on more than 15 three-pointers since the 2008-09 season. Since the 2015-16 season, Brown has hit 15 triples on five separate occasions.
The Bears hit 11 triples in its 83-76 win over Canisius and shot 6-15 against Bryant, including 4-5 in the second half.
Scouting Rhode Island
The Rams enter the Pizzitola Sports Center with a perfect 9-0 record, Rhode Island's trip to Brown will be its first true road game of the season.
The Rams picked up an 84-76 win over Ivy League member Yale (Dec. 2), Brown will be the second Ivy League opponent for the Rams.
History
Brown enters this in-state clash riding a five-game winning streak and Rhode Island enters with a perfect 9-0 record. The Bears have won three consecutive games in this series.
