SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Brown women's hockey (8-7-1, 4-7-1 ECAC) dropped its contest at Union (8-11-1, 5-4-0 ECAC) 4-1 on Saturday. Monique Lyons tallied Brown's lone goal of the game.
Anya Zupkofska finished with 17 saves and Rory Edwards picked up three after entering the game in the third period.
Brown outshot Union 31-24 but finished just 1-for-5 on the power play.
Union looked like it was going to get on the board first as Brown surrendered a penalty shot on on a breakaway but Zupkofska came up with a big save to keep the game scoreless. The Garnet Chargers finaly got past Zupkofska for the first goal of the game at 11:57.
Eight minutes into the second period, Brown found itself on a 5-on-3 advantage and made the most of its opportunity as the puck found Lyons who beat Sophie Matsoukas to tie the game. Lyons' seventh of the season was assisted by Margot Norehad (5) and Ella Muralt (2).
The game did not stay tied for long as Union would score three goals over the final eight minutes of the second period to take control of the game at 4-1.
Brown controlled the third period, outshooting Union 12-3 in the final frame but could not get another goal on the board.
