TROY, N.Y. – Brown women's hockey (8-6-1, 4-6-1 ECAC) fell to Rensselaer (10-7-2, 3-4-1 ECAC) 4-1 on Friday night (Dec .6). The loss snapped a three-game unbeaten streak for the Bears.

Ave DeCoste scored Brown's lone goal of the game, collecting her team-leading eighth goal of the season.

Rory Edwards finished the night with 22 saves in goal.

Brown was outshot 26-24 on the night and both teams could not get anything going on the power play as Brown was 0-for-2 with a man advantage and Renseselaer was 0-for-1.

Rensselaer got on the board first 4:02 into the game as Aylah Cioffi beat Edwards.

Brown responded in the second as the Bears did a good job of keeping the puck in the Rensselaer zone and forcing a turnover. DeCoste ended up with the puck in front of the goal and beat the Engineer goalie blocker-side to tie the game at one.

Early in the third Brown was caught out of position and a Rensselaer's Magdalena Erbonova had an open net to break the tie and put the Engineers on top 2-1.

Rensselaer doubled its lead at 8:55 in the third. After killing a power play, Rensselaer's Cioffi exited the penalty box and got behind Brown's defense leading to a breakaway goal that beat Edwards over the shoulder.

The scoring for the night was capped with an empty net goal with 2:38 left on the clock.

UP NEXT
Brown will remain in the New York Capital Region as the Bears will travel to Union for a matchup with the Garnet Chargers on Saturday. Puck drop against Union is set for 3 p.m.
