Men's Hockey Heads to Northeastern for Saturday Clash

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (3-3-2, 2-3-1 ECAC) close out the first half with a trip to take on the Northeastern Huskies (3-6-3, 1-4-3 HEA) Saturday night at Matthews Arena.
Tomorrow night's game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- The Bears enter Saturday with a 3-3-2 overall record and 2-3-1 ECAC mark. Brown is unbeaten over the last five games with a 3-0-2 record.
- Brown's offense is led by sophomore captain Max Scott's four goals. Sophomore Tyler Kopff leads the team with six assists and is tied for the team lead with seven points with freshman Brian Nicholas.
- Brown's power play struck for two goals last weekend with Scott and Nicholas finding the back of the net on the advantage.
- Brown's defense leads the conference and is tenth nationally, allowing just 2.0 goals per game.
- Reigning ECAC Goaltender of the Month Lawton Zacher holds a 1.63 goals against average and .943 save percentage, both inside the top-10 nationally.
- Brown's penalty kill ranks third in the conference and 19th nationally at 84% (21-for-25).
- Northeastern enters the weekend with a 3-6-3 overall record and 1-4-3 Hockey East mark.
- The Huskies take on the New Hampshire Wildcats on Friday in a crucial league game.
- Northeastern holds wins over #3 Boston College, Bentley, and Stonehill along with ties against #6 Maine, #11 Providence, and New Hampshire.
- Five of the team's six losses have come against ranked opponents.
- Offensively, Northeastern averages 2.3 goals per game to rank 45th in the NCAA.
- Dylan Hryckowian leads the Huskies with 13 points and is tied for the team lead with six goals alongside Cam Lund and Jack Williams. Vinny Borgesi leads the Huskies with nine assists.
- Northeastern's power play has three goals in 34 attempts (8.8%) to rank 61st in the nation.
- Defensively, Northeastern allows 3.0 goals per game to rank 41st in the NCAA.
- Cameron Whitehead has started all 12 games in goal and holds a 2.61 goals against average and .920 save percentage.
- Northeastern's penalty kill clicks at 75% (30-40) to rank 53rd nationally.
- Saturday marks the 78th meeting between Brown and Northeastern dating back to 1930. However, it is just the third meeting this century.
- Brown holds the series edge, 48-27-2, along with a 19-15-0 road record.
- In last year's meeting at Meehan Auditorium, the Huskies took a 4-1 win with a hat trick from Alex Campbell.
- Goaltender Lawton Zacher was named the ECAC Goaltender of the Month for November following a stellar start to the season.
- Zacher recorded a 3-1-2 record in six starts along with a 1.63 goals against average and .943 save percentage.
- Entering Friday, Zacher's 1.63 goals against average leads the conference and ranks seventh in the NCAA among goaltenders with at least 180 minutes played.
- His .943 save percentage leads the ECAC and ranks third nationally.
- Sophomore defenseman Alex Pineau picked up ECAC Defender of the Week honors following his three-point effort in the series finale against Air Force.
- The Thunder Bay, Ontario native tallied two goals in the first period and added an assist in the third to help the Bears to a 5-2 win over the Falcons.
- Freshman Brian Nicholas has points in four straight games and is tied for the team-lead with seven points on the season.
- The Scarsdale, New York native assisted on the lone goal in the win at Clarkson (11/22), tallied the overtime winner at St. Lawrence (11/23), tallied the lone goal in a tie against Air Force (11/29), and added two assists in the win over Air Force (11/30).
- Nicholas is tied for second among freshmen in the ECAC with 0.87 points per game, trailing only Union's Ben Murthersbaugh (1.23).
