Men's Hockey Hits the Road to Take On #19 Clarkson, St. Lawrence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown Bears (0-3-1, 0-3-1 ECAC) hit the road to take on the 19th-ranked Clarkson Golden Knights (8-3-1, 2-0-0 ECAC) on Friday before closing the weekend against the St. Lawrence Saints (4-7-0, 0-2-0 ECAC) on Saturday.
Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ in the United States and on Stretch Internet internationally.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
- Brown enters the weekend after most recently skating to a 1-1 tie against Princeton and picking up the extra league point with the shootout win.
- Tyler Kopff leads the team with four points through four games with captain Max Scott and freshman Ivan Zadvernyuk both with three points.
- Seven other Bears have at least a point through the opening four games.
- Defensively, Brown allows 3.0 goals per game to rank 38th in the NCAA.
- Goaltender Tyler Shea holds a 2.59 goals against average and .926 save percentage in two starts. Lawton Zacher holds a 2.95 goals against average and .895 save percentage in two starts.
- Brown's penalty kill has allowed three goals in 12 attempts through four games.
- Clarkson enters the weekend with an 8-3-1 overall record and 2-0-0 ECAC mark and are ranked 19th in the nation in both polls.
- The Golden Knights started the season 6-3-1 in non-conference games before taking wins over RPI and Union last weekend.
- Clarkson's offense average 3.0 goals per game and is led by Aryton Martino's four goals and nine points. Defenseman Trey Taylor leads the team with seven assists and is tied with Martino's nine points.
- The Golden Knight power play clicks at 19.5% (8-41) to rank sixth in the conference.
- Defensively, Clarkson allows just 2.1 goals per game to lead the ECAC and rank 12th nationally.
- Goaltender Ethan Langenegger, a graduate transfer from Lake Superior State, holds a 1.70 goals against average and .930 save percentage in 10 starts.
- Clarkson's penalty kill leads the ECAC and ranks 11th nationally at 87.5% (42-48).
- Friday marks the 106th meeting between Brown and Clarkson dating back to 1952.
- Last January, the Bears picked up their first win in the series since 2016 and first win on the road since 2013. It marked just the seventh win in Potsdam and sixth win at Cheel Arena.
- St. Lawrence enters the weekend with a 4-7-0 overall record and 0-2-0 ECAC mark.
- The Saints went 4-5-0 in non-conference play before suffering losses to Union and RPI last weekend.
- Offensively, the Saints average 2.4 goals per game to rank seventh in the league.
- Greg Lapointe leads the team with seven goals and 13 points. Tomas Mazura leads the team with 11 assists and is second with 12 points.
- St. Lawrence's power play clicks at 21.6% (8-37) to rank seventh in the league.
- The Saints allow 2.6 goals per game to rank sixth in the ECAC and 23rd nationally.
- Sophomore Mason Kucenski holds a 2.36 goals against average and .922 save percentage in 10 starts.
- The St. Lawrence penalty kill ranks third in the ECAC and 17th nationally at 86.7% (26-30).
- Saturday marks the 103rd meeting dating back to 1952. The Saints hold the series edge, 53-34-13, along with a 29-13-8 home record.
- Since the start of the 2018-19 season, both teams are 5-5-3 in the series with five games going to overtime and eight games decided by a goal or less.
- Going further, over the last 71 meetings dating back to January 1993 , Brown holds a 28-29-14 record in the series. The teams are split by just three goals in the span with St. Lawrence holding the edge, 197-194.
- Captain Max Scott has points in each of the last three games for the Bears.
- The San Jose native scored against Cornell (11/9), added an assist against Quinnipiac (11/15), and scored the lone goal against Princeton (11/16).
- On the season, he has won 69-of-118 (58.5%) of his faceoffs and has taken just under half of all draws for Brown.
- Kopff has points in four straight games to start the season.
- The sophomore picked up assists against Colgate (11/8) and Cornell (11/9) before scoring against Quinnipiac (11/15) and adding a helper against Princeton (11/16). He also leads the team with 14 shots on goal.
- Through four games, Brown's freshmen and sophomores have accounted for 67.7% of shots, 75% of goals, 91% of assists and 84.2% of points.
