Men's Water Polo Bests California Baptist and Fresno Pacific on Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 19 Brown men's water polo (13-6) picked up two wins at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament, beating California Baptist and Fresno Pacific on Saturday.
No. 19 BROWN 12, No. 14 CALIFORNIA BAPTIST 11
Ilias Stothart tallied a team-high four goals and Mate Tymcyna added three as the Bears earned a hard-fought win over California Baptist to start play at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament.
Dimitris Kratimenos had 15 saves in the win for the Bears.
With the game tied at six at halftime, Brown took control of the game with a 4-1 third quarter. A 4-0 run by the Bears put Brown up 9-6 after a goal by Stothart. CBU cut the lead to 10-9 Brown, but the Bears responded with a goal from Daniel Hadar.
Tymcyna's goal with 1:24 left in the game put Brown up 12-10. CBU had a late goal but Brown was able to maintain the one-point advantage to close out the game.
No. 19 BROWN 17, FRESNO PACIFIC 11
Stothart scored six goals and the Bears used a strong first half to pull away from Fresno Pacific to close out play on Saturday. Mac Berry, William Griswold, Tymcyna and Ramzi Megalli all scored two goals in the win.
Kole Newman stopped six shots for Brown in goal.
Brown jumped ahead 4-1 in the first quarter off a Megalli goal and built the lead to 8-4 after a goal by Stothart. The Bears pushed its lead to 15-8 after Stothart scored again to end the third quarter.

Brown will close out play on the weekend at Santa Clara on Sunday beginning at 12:20 p.m. ET
