PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Director of Water Polo Felix Mercado has announced the hiring of Joe Molina as an assistant coach for the men's water polo program.
Molina joins Brown having last served as a head coach for the Boys Varsity Water Polo Program at Orange Lutheran High School in Orange County, California.
"We are thrilled to welcome Joe to our coaching staff," said Mercado. "Anytime you can add someone who has had experience playing for and winning National Championships, it's a game-changer. The Brown Water Polo program is ready to take the next step and get back to competing for championships, and Joe is the perfect person to help lead that charge. He will hit the ground running in recruiting and play a major role in driving our off-season training as we build momentum toward sustained success."
Molina played at Cal, and was a member of the 2021 and 2022 NCAA Division I National Championship teams.
During the summer of 2025, Molina served as the Head Coach for the Boys Cadet Futures 2025 USA Water Polo National Team and has served as a coach for multiple water polo clubs throughout California. He also played two years professionally with Drummoyne Water Polo Club in Sydney, Australia.
