Women's Rugby Wins Convincingly At Home

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Brown Bears (4-1-1) took down the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers (0-5-0) at home in convincing fashion.
Brown's A team returned to action for the first time since their defeat to Harvard two weeks ago. This time, they were the dominant team.
The front line of Brown was especially impressive, as Aziza Alford, Akilah Cathey and Elizabeth Mahoney scored tries early.
The Bears scored at will, leading 80-0 at half. Substitutions were made for the second half, but Brown continued to score as they won the game 111-7.
"It was a strong showing for the Bears today and we had some great attacking opportunities that we took advantage of," said Rosalind Chou, Kathleen Flores women's rugby head coach. "We worked all week to make great decisions tactically and have awareness on what best decisions to make when. Julia Murray and Kate Muldoon really steered the ship well at flyhalf and scrumhalf today. Our forwards were very good in the contact area, so a shoutout to that whole unit and Coach Kittery Ruiz who's been leading that unit."
