Women's Rugby Defeated by Quinnipiac in First Away Game
9/6/2025 5:11:00 PM | Women's Rugby
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Brown women's rugby team (0-2) dropped a tough Saturday road match to the Quinnipiac Bobcats (1-1).
The Bobcats dominated the opening six and a half minutes, scoring two tries and a conversion. Although Laryssa Barbosa made the Bears' first try of the game, Julia Murray followed quickly with a successful conversion. The Bobcats, however, responded with two more tries and a penalty kick, and the team led 30-7 at halftime.
Brown's defense repeatedly blocked the Bobcats' second half scoring attempts, showing consistency and resilience. Barbosa notched her second try of the afternoon. Even with the Bears' efforts, the Bobcats secured a 38-14 victory in this hard-fought match.
"The team really stepped up against a physical QU team, making a lot of improvements from last week," said Kathleen Flores Women's Rugby Head Coach Rosalind Chou. "We know it's a challenging start to the season, and the team is continuing to improve every game."
The Bears are on the road again next Saturday to Cambridge, Mass., as they face Harvard at 2 p.m.
