Football Heads to Princeton for Friday Night Showdown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown football team is set to dive back into Ivy League play this Friday night with a showdown at Princeton. The 7 p.m. game will be nationally televised exclusively on ESPNU with a live Brown audio broadcast available through the Learfield Varsity Network.

Brown Bears Football Report: Episode 5
OPENING KICKOFF
- Both teams will be looking to get back into the win column following two straight losses, each going 1-2 in non-league games.
- Brown (11) and Princeton (15) enter the game having allowed the most sacks in the league this season, while Princeton's defense has sacked the opposing quarterback nine times, tied with Dartmouth for the most.
- Brown is tied with Columbia for the most interceptions on defense (5) this season, meanwhile Princeton has thrown the most interceptions in the league (9).
HEAD OF THE PACK
- Senior linebacker Caleb Moorhead ranks sixth in the nation and first in the Ivy League with 1.8 tackles for loss per game. His 7.0 total tackles for loss are three more than Yale's Dylan Yang, the next closest Ivy Leaguer.
LIMITING THE FLOW
- Junior defensive back Nick Hudson leads the Ivy League and ranks second in all of FCS Football with 2.0 passes defended per game. His eight passes defended this season are two more than Columbia's Carter McFadden.
NOBLE COOPER'S EMERGENCE
- Defensive back Noble Cooper, a converted wide receiver, recorded a career-high 7.0 tackles (0.5 TFLs) last weekend at URI, and tallied his first career interception on URI's first possession of the game, returning it 41 yards to set up a Brown touchdown.
BROTHERLY LOVE
- Senior safety Tim Malo had a career-high 10.0 tackles last week at URI and added his second interception of the season, picking off a pass in the end zone near the end of the half to keep the game tied going into halftime.
- Sophomore Max Malo stepped up big for the Bears at URI, tallying 8.0 tackles, including 1.0 tackles for loss at URI. His previous career-high had been 3.0 at Bryant the game prior.
PASSING ATTACK
- The Bears lead the Ivy League in passing offense (255.5).
- Quarterback Jake Willcox ranks among the nation's leaders in the following categories:
- Passing yards/game: (254.3 - 12th in FCS | 1st in Ivy)
- Completions/game: (19.75 - 18th in FCS | 2nd in Ivy)
- Total Offense: (284.4 - 8th in FCS | 1st in Ivy)
QUICK STRIKES
- Four of Brown's 15 touchdowns this season have come on plays of at least 45 yards or more, including an 87-yard pass to Solomon Miller on the first play of the season at Georgetown, and a 75-yarder to Matt Childs against Harvard.
