PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Seniors Kojo Dadzie and Charlie Adams and freshman Carlo Brown notched goals in Brown's 4-0 victory over Columbia in the Ivy League opener.
Saturday marks the first Ivy League win for Chase Wileman, Friends of Brown Men's Soccer Head Coaching Chair. The Bears advance to 2-4-1 and 1-0-0 in the league, while the Lions fall to 2-3-2 and 0-1-0 in conference play.
Brown outshot Columbia, 16-6 and 5-1 on goal. It was the first clean sheet of the season for the defense and sophomore goalkeeper Henrik Weiper.
"Another excellent performance for us," said Scott Bratt, Zisson Family Assistant Coaching Chair. "This is the first time that we've had a great performance and be rewarded with a great result. Everything came together for us tonight and everything we've been working on all season finally came together."
After an early save from Weiper and a Columbia corner, Brown went on the attack. Dadzie had two shots and broke through in the 26th minute with a left footed strike off an assist from freshman Carlo Brown. That score would stand until halftime.
Everything went well for Brown in the second half. Dadzie secured his second goal of the match on a long throw in from sophomore Greyson Mitchell with a second assist from classmate Langdon Gryglas to make it 2-0 in the 49th minute.
Sophomore Tanner Barry then sent a perfect ball from midfield to senior Levi Pillar, who touched it off to Adams for the 3-0 advantage in the 64th minute.
Later in the 83rd minute, junior Cal Walsh sent a corner kick to Pillar, who found Calro Brown for the first goal of his career to finish things off.
Brown's defense allowed only one shot on goal in the second minute and did not allow Columbia to get off a clean look for the remainder of the match.
The Bears hit the road for the first time since Sept. 9 for a meeting at Cornell on Saturday at 4 p.m.
