Baseball Travels to Princeton for Final Series

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown baseball team will hit the road for a three-game series at Princeton this weekend to round out the 2023 season. The weekend series will also mark the end of the regular season for the Tigers, who have already clinched a spot in the upcoming Ivy League Tournament, and are still alive for the regular season title.

SCOUTING BROWN
- Brown took two out of three games last weekend from Dartmouth, and dropped a back-and-forth non-league battle at Holy Cross on Tuesday evening.
- Freshman Mika Petersen enters this weekend third in the Ivy League with a .369 batting average.
- Petersen is the reigning Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week after going 10-for-16 with four extra base hits in four games last week. He enters Saturday carrying a 23-game on-base streak. His 20-game hitting streak came to an end on Tuesday at Holy Cross (0-for-2, 2 BBs, HBP).
- Senior outfielder Derian Morphew is second on the team in batting (.310) and ranks second in the league with 16 doubles. He leads the team with 26 RBIs.
- Morphew has a hit in 21 of his last 25 games and has reached base in 23 of those games.
- Freshman shortstop DJ Dillehay (six-game hitting streak) has reached base in 22 of his 23 games this season, and has a hit in 19 of his 23 games. He is second on Brown with a .319 batting average, third in slugging percentage (.440) and third in on-base percentage (.406). He delivered the walk-off hit against Harvard on April 22.
- Ryan Marra went 5-for-12 against Dartmouth, including hitting two home runs in the series opener, and delivering the game-winning two-run single in the seventh inning of game two over the weekend.
- Second baseman Mark Henshon went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI at Holy Cross.
- The Tigers enter the final weekend of the regular season one game behind both Harvard and Penn for the top spot in the Ivy League standings. Princeton does not hold the tiebreaker against either team.
- Junior outfielder Scott Bandura leads the Ivy League in batting average (.391), on-base (.478), slugging (.679) and OPS (1.157).
- Junior first baseman Kyle Vinci leads the Ivy League with 19 home runs this season, five more than the next closest player, and ranks second in the league with a .671 slugging percentage.
- As a team, the Tigers are third with a .281 batting average and rank sixth with a 6.90 ERA.
- Saturday's game one starter Tom Chmielewski is tied for the league led with six wins, and closer Jacob Faulkner leads the way with six saves.
